A ridiculous performance by a complete clown of a ref,
If only he was as friendly with our players we may of got a couple of decisions

Thought Webb was very poor again as he was at Villa Park when he let Villa player nearly put Cameron Jerome in hospital with leg breaking tackle.
Didn't book Saints player for hacking down Glenn 2nd half, & some other spoiling fouls & ball being kicked away numerous times.
These decisions can make alot of difference if a player has a yellow card agsinst him.
Haven't seen foul on Yannick when through to see if should have been red card.
I sit in main stand but mate who sits in Holmesdale immediately texted me at 3.06 pm that we should have had definite penalty.
Also what was it with Lallana in Webbs ear throughout game. Mark Clattenberg was dead right as he seems to think he is untouchable now in the England team. Obnoxious little t*** !

Howard the coward. Bottled the big decisions, not the ref he was a few years ago.

I was surprised to see no topic concerning Howard Webb and his performance today really does merit one.

How he is revered as the best referee in this country is beyond me. He is simply awful. He is sanctimonious and full of bravado. He 'befriends' players on the pitch with his rehearsed showmanship, playing to the television cameras, yet he consistently bottles big decisions.

It is not always correct to blame results on a referee, but had a courageous referee officiated today, we would have justly got a result.

He allowed Southampton to break up every half-attack with cynical trips and fouls. He was abysmal. And one of his linesmen was as bad.

Spot on. Inept display by Webb. Seemed more interested in protecting the England starlets and postering for camera's.
Get within a yard of saints player and free kick given. OK we weren't at our best but when you have 11 against 13(linesman main stand side first half) you are pretty much f****d.

The reason that he's thought of as 'the best' is because he's our only one who doesn't look like a goon.

Ref was an utter disgrace today and could have possibly cost us survival.

Watched the game with a Spurs fan who has no love for Palace. He was outraged by the tackle on Murray, studs up, and immediately called for a red card.

I was calling for a red card for the foul on Bolasie where Webb deemed the player not to be the last man - how is that relevant when bolasie was hacked down with no attempt to play the ball and would have been clear through on goal. Webb was a disgrace.

It is okay to say we were poor but when you have crucial refereeing decisions continuously going against you then that can take the stuffing out of a team.

I actually thought he had a good game, got most decisions right. Face facts we weren't very good today and it wasn't the refs fault.

Truth is we were largely dreadful yesterday. That is indeed a fact. However, that has nothing to do with the awful refereeing yesterday. Southampton chopped down every nascent Palace attack with trips and scythes (Bolasie, Delaney, Murray, etc) and were allowed to do so because Webb refused to send off their last man (Lovcen). They took it in turns to get booked. The linesman was clearly wrong on 2 big offside shouts too.

i thought he was ok today...and breaking up the game shouldav suited us as it interrupted southamptons neat game.

we could maybe stop trying to shift the blame onto things outside of palace, and admit we were playing a better team, who really wouldnt have been unhappy walking away with a draw...one moment of madness gave them 3 points.

we wernt brilliant today, but had more than enough oppotunitys to score.

Firstly let me say that we lost today because we weren't good enough.... at best we might have scraped a draw but we didn't deserve to.

I do agree about Webb though.

Southampton were fairly cynical with their challenges and got away with it. The big decision was bottled by Webb with regard to the challenge on Bolasie.

Webb is reputed to be our finest referee, but he grandstands and his image is more important than being a good referee. Sadly, their is not much competition from the refereeing panel either.

Don't think Webb was as bad as some think and over the course of the game we got what we deserved..... BUT..... the foul by Lovgren really was the turning point.
Refs are happier to make a mistake that favours a player rather than one that gets them flak for wrongly sending one off. Lovgren should of walked or football has to come up with satisfactory punishments. No way is a free kick defended by a wall and a well positioned keeper a fair reward for robbing a team of a certain goalscoring opportunity. Yes we all know Bolasie would of probably wasted it, but he would of had a chance as Clyne was not on the side of the ball and although as they like to point out he is fast, well sorry, but so the f*** is Bolasie. At least against 10 men even Pulis would of tried to attack a bit more and missing their best centre half would of been a massive advantage for us.
People are blaming the ref for a lot of perceived errors, but really that was the only really big one (forget pulling at corners, no ref has the balls)and that was the one that would of changed the entire game.
