He's what I call a comfort player, if he is feeling good and at ease he'll be great but if not he'll go missing. Yesterday he went missing.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

What are these good games Puncheon has had ????

How he get s a start most weeks is beyond me, as much as i think Bannon is better in CM he is definitely better than Puncheon out wide.

I don't like to bag current players, but I have been surprised all season every time JP is in the starting line-up.

That said, I didn't think Ince made that much of an impact when he came on this week: JT had the biggest positive impact and I'm not normally a fan of his.

Unfair to blame puncheon for soton goal. He was entitled to expect better cover behind him. Where was the rest of the defence?

Wouldn't blame Jules either. He was a fractional inch away from making what would have been the best tackle ever made at selhurst park

IMO, Jules did well to make the challenge without getting himself sent off.

Disagree entirely with fowler 's motd comment.

But what does TP think? Will he use the incident as an excuse to replace speroni with Hennessy?

I agree with Fowler. Watching the game live I thought Jules was going to get to the ball first. Having just seen it again on MoTD I think that not only should he have got to the ball first but once he got there, he should have made sure he won it rather than making a powder puff challenge which left Rodrigues with an empty net to aim at. Unfair to blame Puncheon solely for the goal in my opinion.

The last time puncheon was so heavily slagged off (the penalty miss v spurs), he scored the winner in the next game.

Roll on Saturday!

Not speronis fault imo. Maybe would have been better to stay in his area so he could use his hands, but the challenge could easily have gone wrong and he would have walked.

Neither Speroni or Moxey could go in full pelt because a red card was waiting for one of them depending on how Rodriguez would of gone down. Puncheon sold Moxey down the river, but he didn't do it on purpose, so I forgive him, although I find him incredibly frustrating to watch.
What I did notice today was that Southampton left no one up at defensive corners and even though that happens you still leave two players back, one deeper than the other, but two in order to cover a break down either side. Pulis only left back Moxey and sorry but that is far too big an area for one player to cover and the goal came from our corner. An extra player back would of mopped up the clearance or fouled Rodriguez in his own half and obviously wouldn't of been the last man, Moxey was and couldn't risk it.

Im sorry but what hell was puncheon doing, if you've got a ball like that you dont head it on, you put in touch or too a player, he did neither, I'd rather have tomas on the pitch as when he came on he beat his man every single time and put a good cross in, where as puncheon is only looking to cut inside.

I don't rate him one little bit, he's just not consistent enough for what we need at this point in our season!! Yea he can pop up with something good every now and again but I'd defo bring bannan back into the frame!! It might even liven punch up if he was dropped for bannan, bannan put 100% in every game he played and looked good but since punch got his contract he hasn't performed 1 little bit!! I'd drop to liven him up

There's a Southampton fan at work who said to me a while back that Puncheon would try his heart out to get a contract, then as soon as he did would take his foot off of the pedal. Looks like he was right, although I thought he was cack before he got his contract. I'd have Bannan in before him everyday of the week.

It's apparently quite commonplace for players to pull out all the stops so as to secure a contract, then to ease off once it has been secured.

They tend to hop from club to club.

However, I wouldn't include Puncheon . IMO, he is a wholehearted player - it's just that things haven't clicked into place (yet).

I'd like him at least to start at Sunderland on Saturday - at the very least he is a handful for opponents. As I recall, he played well in the home match v S'land.

If it hadn't been a goal ...would Jules have walked???? He didn't get the ball after all
