Don't be scared of conceding. We have started to sit further and further back in games, particularly away, fearing them scoring which ultimately allowed them to. Be brave, that is the only way we will stay up.

Letting teams have 80% possession in the 1st half knackers them out so we can play football in the 2nd....

This is spot on. Pulis seems to do this a lot, contain the opposition first half then go at them when they are tiring. Maybe on this occasion we gave a bit too much possession though, it got pretty scary.

Also, if we play that way we will often go a goal down but not sure we have the firepower to pull it back. But it's probably the best we can do until we catch up on overall quality with other prem teams.

I reckon Joniesta could help when he gets back, put a dynamo into midfield to give the opposition less time. Shame not to see either Bannan or Guedioura.

We need to push the midfield up to take a higher line and push sides further back - giving them 70 yards of space and trying to crowd them out when they get near our box will only go so far - we will (and do) concede and end up trying to break and counter from the edge of our 18 yard box - we aren't good enough for that at this level

Been saying that myself for weeks...and when we played similarly under Freedman. Playing too deep just simply confuses the issue at times with players leaving runners for others to deal with (KG for todays first goal) as well as not providing any outlet when we actually win the ball. All that was happening in teh first half was a hoof out to Chamakh who lost it only for it to come straight back.

As you and a couple of others pointed out on the match thread...simply by playing a little higher it allows the defence to clearly identify their 'men' as well as when winning the ball providing a pass in between 'the lines' for us to build an attack with.

Simply by winning the ball and playing these passes will result in the oppo dropping off themselves to nullify any threat.

He did exactly the same for WBA's goal

Nail on head on the last para - when we play teams who we are more 'competitive' against on paper we really should give them more to think about and we will only do that by fronting them up - not giving them carte blanche to knock the ball around and not get a challenge on unless its 20 yards from our goal

We need to offer more threat and can do that by hitting their midfield higher up the pitch

Very good point away from home.

Very impressed with Bolasie today because in the 2nd half he was constantly a threat, only problem is that his final product isn't always the best.

Glenn Murray was the big change though, won almost every header and took the risk and made the run (something Jerome wouldn't of done) and managed to get our pen.

Delighted at the point and we could of even won at the end of the game.

Only problem is that our first half was very poor and better sides will punish us for that but to fight back to get a draw is a good result for us.

Well done to Tony Pulis for also deciding to book Chamakh and Thomas for their dives today, diving is not needed in this side and in Thomas' case could of lead to a winning goal.

I've learnt that I really don't want Pulis football next season.
I said that if we wanted to stay up then Pulis was the only man with a realistic chance of doing it, but I knew it would be awful to watch. I didn't want him though because I knew if he was successful then we would be stuck with him for the foreseeable future. It's a double edged sword because I don't want to go down, but I don't want to watch 19th Century football.

Do you not think though that (should) we stay up that he'll look for that 'quality' we've been missing?

Personally I don't think we'll play like his Stoke side did, but he's having to get the best out of a squad that other than recently he didn't have a choice as to who would be in it.

In doing so he's done pretty much all that could be done with them by getting them organised as a unit...and to be fair he's done that very very well to date.

We have quality in Chamakh, Bolasie, Puncheon and Ince, yet he doesn't allow them to play. Organisation is fine and he's got that, but he has players that can hurt people and he doesn't use them to their strengths. Next season he will have his team and we will be playing just like Stoke used to. Why do you honestly think he will change after all these years?

Glen Murray. One of the few in our squad with a footballing brain, and we looked a different team when he came on,should have gone on to win but i guess we would of took 1-1 at kick off.

When did Chamakh dive?
It seems Pulis will be in an army of one when it comes to clamping down on diving, should endear him to his players.

Because of the work he's done since he left Stoke in learning other formations etc by spending time in Spanish and German acadamies. he simply hasnt had the time to develop anything yet and instead was given the task of making us harder to beat by reverting to what he knows works. WBA have gone for the more expansive style of play and that's not getting them anywhere as it takes a while to implement and a brave Board to have the patience.

I agree with your thoughts on the likes of Cham, Yannick, Puncheon and Ince...which is why I think that now the squad have had the 'organisation' ingrained in them that we can push one of the def midfielders foward freeing the wingers a little more.

We were far too defensive - but maybe that was the game plan as others said - i can imagine the old 'rocky balboa' go the distance then a killer blow route was that he was thinking, just unlucky and i guess risky if it doesn't pull off.

Either way second half was great!!!

Don't want to sound too negative and dour but I'm so there you go. We have a back six that is pretty much the same as the one that started the 2012-13 seasons as one of the favourites to go down. We conceded more goals than any other team in the top half last season. We did not go up because of our defensive strength.
Pulis has changed this by dropping off given possession and territory to support the defence. We have concede 14 goals in 13 games since he took over in that same time, Fulham have concede 38 in 15 matches, with what you would say on paper should be a better back 4.
We did well today taking the game to Swansea and I think we did hit them when they were tired but we did well given up possession against Hull and Villa those six points are vital.
Dislike Pulis on aesthetic grounds, fair enough but you can't criticise his effectiveness. Playing deep and sitting back away from home will be the only way we are going to stay up.
I pray that the last day of the season does not come down to Fulham needing a win and Palace a point because that will be hell.
