Sadly I think this may see us go down, in the sense that we are the only ones down the bottom that have not picked up points against the better teams. We're going to have to pick up something against Liverpool, Chelsea or Man City I reckon.

Agreed - was thinking the same thing myself when I was watching Gillette Soccer Saturday. We really need to pick something up sooner rather than later against a top side.

We have to remember that the other teams are yet to play the big sides away. At least we have them at home.

Pretty perfect set of results today apart from the Arsenal Stoke game.

Stoke starting to look safe now to be honest. 30 points with 10 games left they'll probably reach 40 points and get over the line.

They were never going down anyway, squad is a unit and is too strong to go down.

That's what they said about Leeds

Sorry we don't need to concern ourselves with the top sides. We need to worry about the ones at the bottom. If we can beat the three sides below us albeit away we should be ok. It will be easier than beating the likes of man city at home. Anything else against west ham Swansea et al will be a bonus.

Realistically though, we are going to lose one or two games against other bottom half teams throughout the run-in. They're all away from home and the harder games are at home. I don't think you can go all season just relying on points from the other 'minnows' you probably do need a result or two against the good sides to offset the inevitable bad result or two against the bad sides (ie, losing to Fulham at home).

You just need to get more points than 3 other teams. How you get them and who you beat is completely irrelevant.

Looking at individual results that didn't go our way is just a way to wind yourself up. We know more or less what the points total will be, and it's completely down to us anyway.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue

Your second point is spot on, we can only get the points that are put in front of us...

However it does matter how we get the, because it is all about depriving those around us of anything. I'd rather lose to Man City and beat Cardiff than the reverse....

Absolutely. The old phrase still rings true: games against teams around us are the key 'six pointers'. We get 3, it stops them getting 3. Losing to Man City isn't going to affect them in a relegation battle - I think they're safe now!

We have one draw from the 12 matches we have played against top half teams, although you could now argue the win against West Ham counts as a win against a top half team. Our record against the bottom half is good. The season so far we have played and lost to the good teams away and beaten the poor teams at home. The last 12 games of the season are almost exact opposite we have the good teams at home and the poorer teams away, so from a form point of view it is difficult to read how will we do.
I think Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City will have too much quality for us and however organised we are at some point will have a lapse of concentration which will cost us. This has been the story so far against Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs at home.
That leaves Southampton and Aston Villa as important games to pick up wins. If we do that we probably only need a few wins away to keep us.
Since Pulis took over we have won 2 of three against bottom half teams away.Hopefully we can be organised enough to pick up one or two wins
The way Swansea play they do well against poorer teams so don't think we will win there.
Basically I've written all this to say the games against Sunderland, Fulham and Cardiff are key...that's insight.

Man U Arsenal and Spurs all changed after the Penalties.
So as you say we must concentrate for 90 minutes.
Saints and Villa we MUST win.
Swansea have out played us and beaten us in the last 4 games.
Albeit Holloway lost the plot with his Team choice earlier this Season.

Stoke away - a source of dread for many big teams, and a graveyard for them this season.

Possibly the most generous penalty you'll see given this season.

I've been saying this for the last week or so. Currently we have 1 point from the top 6 and that's Everton who are probably likely to finish outside the top 6. Changing them for Man U who are 7th then we have got none. When I have a few minutes I'm going to workout how many points the others have got but I'm certain it's more than us. I have a bad feeling those precious points will make a huge different.

To make Southampton a must win is tough, they are a very good team and gave Liverpool a tough game, if it had not been for Suarez then may have got something. I'm a pessimist but I can see us not getting any points in March......desperately hope I'm wrong.

Of course we have to beat those around us, but the bonus points could be big this season. We have lost points to WBA, Norwich, Fulham and Swansea and have not made up any of those with any unexpected results. Others have dropped these kind of points also, but they have made up ground on us with the unexpected. If the Stoke results had gone as expected we would be five points clear of them, I really feel these points will be massive come the end.
There are no guarantees that we will beat any of those around us on their own patch, so the home games are massive and the computer has truly shafted us with the three title contenders still to play at home, when we had played them so early in the season and realistically should of already played the returns. Sure Norwich feel the same way, that the games really should be spread out in a far more consistent way.
