It annoys me that £300K a week is being wasted on a dodgy hairweave that resembles Bruce Forsyth's syrup and shagging grannies.

United fan here, after all the nonsense yesterday with the coin throwing and what have you, David Moyes response to that was something along the lines of 'I bet those same supporters that threw stuff at Rooney will be cheering him on in the world cup'. And I am interested to find out if he is actually right or not? There are bound to be a few of you on these forums who despise Wayne Rooney based on all the anger and hatred on display yesterday, so if you are an English Palace fan, and Rooney was to score the winner in the World Cup final...would you cheer?

It's eleven men vs eleven men, just so happens on the day ours were much better and left your place with a comfortable victory and never needed to get out of second gear. Any way, I hope you stay up. I don't really mind Palace. Thank f*ck for that - I will sleep much better now

top cat- thanks for your wishes of good luck for getting in to Europa, but believe it or not there are more than a few of us United fans that would welcome us avoiding that competition tbh. And for the record, I come from , was born in and reside in..........Manchester! Who'd have thought ???

In a word yes. Silly nonsense really. Probably the best player on the pitch by a mile. Whilst the OP was trying to goad to an extent, I completely agree with this. They were a different class and it showed. We were never going to get anything, but did ourselves proud nonetheless. Rooney was outstanding and that goal was something else. One any team would bow out to. I don't like Rooney and do think he doesn't seem to care about England as much as he should, but I'd still hope he starts and would cheer him on for England any day...

I for one won't be cheering him but this has nothing to do with my love of Palace. I was at the England v Algeria game in the 2010 WC and was utterly appalled by Rooney (and the England team as a whole). Rooney seemed to be scared of the ball shying away from it when it came near him and he tripped over countless blades of grass in that game. After the game I was chatting with some Algerian fans (quality guys) and they were all totally perplexed by England and especially Rooney's performance. They asked me to explain it from an English perspective but all I could do was shrug and tell them I was as perplexed as they were. I've never cheered for the donkey since. If he scores for England I'm happy we got a goal but really couldn't give a toss about him. As for his new wage packet, it might have looked like good value 5 years ago but now it just looks like a greedy w@anker taking a desperate and flailing manager for a ride.
And I see signs of half remembered days, I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways |

Use to be a passionate England supporter, but because of the like of Rooney and co. couldn't give a t*ss about them now,if he scores the winner I wont cheer him or England. Would rather see someone like Ronaldo who is truly gifted score for his country.

I genuinely don't believe anything was personal against Rooney, whoever took the first corner for United down there was in for a tough time. I honestly believe that Januzaj would have got it worse as he's a diving cheat. Would I celebrate him scoring a winner for England in the World Cup final? No. I'm supporting Australia as Jedinak will be playing. Players like Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard etc are the reason I have gradually come to hate the national team.

Wayne Rooney playing well for England would be like Danny Dyer learning to act…it ain't ever gonna happen.

Rooney isn't even English he's scouse and shouldn't be anywhere near the England team.

Bit weird a Utd fan coming on here talking about England when for years they slagged off anything to do with the national side and used to sing "Argentina" as a way of showing how much they hate the England team. Rooney is a good, if overrated and vastly overpaid, player. Would I be glad if he finally did something for England? Yes, just like anyone else who plays for the national team. Do I think he's an ugly, fat scouser with a dodgy syrup and penchant for shagging grannies? The answer's also yes.
