In some ways I wish I wasn't old enough to remember this day, but what a memory. Wasn't their manager sacked after this game?
History repeating......

Yes, Frank O'Farrell was given his marching orders after United's 5-0 drubbing by Palace.

I was there and it was one of those games you never forget. A bit like the Burnley 1979 promotion decider.

I never tire of watching the highlights on Youtube.

I can't see a repeat of that scoreline this Saturday, but any win will do. Lest we forget, despite rubbing United's nose in the dirt on that occasion, we were relegated at the end of that season.

Wasn't there, but watched the game on Norwegian TV and it opened many Scandinavian eyes for the Eagles. And they have never closed ever since..

I was there....

Me to........

And me, on the Holmesdale terrace.

I was there too for our first ever game in Div 1, which was also against Man U. The 2-2 draw included a goal from our new Scottish striker, Gerry Queen. That prompted the News of the World back page headline. "Queen scores at the Palace".

I was there as well...

Also at those matches, probably in my top ten of Palace matches over the years. I also remember a great game between the two sides finishing 5.3 to United. Denis Law scored a brilliant goal that day which was shown for months on end at the start of the Big Match. We have had some outstanding games with them over the years not forgetting the cup final and that French geezer match.

The best Palace experience ever. On the Holmesdale and a little bit on the edge.

That was my first ever Palace game.

I was in the Main Stand. Great atmosphere.

The beginning of my addiction.

god that footage brings back memories, don rogers at his best, still reckon best player i've ever seen at selhurst, shame he came here late in his career, we probably missed so much not getting him earlier, still i'm glad i was watching him in his short time here

Was there for the 5-0 and 2-2 against United. remember after the 2-2 my granfather saying he wished we had got stuffed - that way they would realise very quickly they were not as good as they thought they were. The 5-0 ranks just behind the Liverpool 4-3 victory.

As for the Don I believe Arsenal and several others tried to sign him over the years after his league cup heroics for Swindon. However, he did not want to leave and turned down all offers. I guess by the time we went in for him he wanted a final challenge in his career.

Was also there on the Holmesdale. Don Rogers is my all time favourite Palace player. The buzz from the crowd when he was on the ball was magical. Now, where is my rattle and claret and blue scarf that my mum knitted me?
