Campana was a worse signing.

Young player, obvious talent, resale value, has assisted a couple of goals for us this season... Yeah, I see your point there mate.

With regards to Sow, someone above used the word proven... 12 goals in the Swedish regional 3rd league a couple of years ago, 3 goals in the Moldovan league the season after. Now that's what I call pedigree!

Agree with the majority here, absolutely pointless signing, especially aged 23.

Was signed as another body in attack after doing ok in trial/preseason games.

Got injured as soon as he signed, hasnt been fit since I believe

This.

Its easy to judge in hindsight. At the time he looked promising, but if he's injured he's injured, and it can take a long time to recover from an injury. Theres always a risk involved in signing any player that they'll be injured. Probably a good signing for us at the time

Means nothing on its own, our top goal scorer last season was doing alright in the lower leagues, and Gayle, whos gotten a few and looked promising, was playing in non-league football.

Talent can be anywhere, and sometimes it pays to take a risk on a player you can get really cheap. Taken Calvin Andrew, much lamented, but in that Administration season his contributions were vital in keeping us up when Alan Lee was injured. Cheap as chips player who more than made up for his cost.

Never saw Jack Hunt in a Palace shirt either did we.

To be fair I think thats harsh. Broke his ankle in pre-season and now gone out on loan to regain fitness as would be hard to dislodge our arguable POTY from right back.

When i'd seen hunt play for Huddersfield, granted only a few times, i thought he was quality

Completely wrong. Never put a foot wrong in our games. Forgetting Grandin/Thomas etc?

That was more to illustrate my issue with the word 'proven' in this case, but whilst I agree about sometimes taking a punt, with Gayle and Murray both had been prolific at a certain level, whereas Sow never has. He also didn't pull up any trees in pre-season for us either, so for me signing him has been a waste of both wages and a year of the bloke's career - even without hindsight that should have been obvious.

He'd have to move his feet around a bit more to put one wrong.

Why there's still so much fuss about this guy, I have no idea...

I thought that the original idea of him signing was because we didn't have anybody who played like Chamakh on the books. And because IH wanted to build a team around Chamakh he thought it was important to have a similar player in the 21s.

Whether that's still the case though in another matter...
