Will our fantastic support continue if relegated?

Last time we were relegated we dropped about 7k in attendence, and then were soon down to a 14k average. Almost certainly we'll lose fans (some will become more sporodic, some will just disappper). I think the noise produced won't change to much though.

Yeah, but they're contributing to the income of the club. There are a tranch of people who just like football. That doesn't preclude them becoming future Palace fans.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's good to be positive, but I find it odd that so many people are saying we're now staying up and even the papers are saying it! We've got Chelsea, United, City and Liverpool all at home. Since we can only seem to win at homee, it only leaves Villa and Southampton as teams we can realistically beat at home. We are going to struggle for points unless we start winning away. It will go to the wire and I still think we'll need to beat Fulham on the last day to have a chance of survival. I do not believe you are looking at the real picture regarding our away form. Forget the top nine teams and look only at the bottom eleven. Of those ten 'away' games we have played five, won two and lost three. Two of the defeats were prior to TP's appointment. I see no earthly reason why this team cannot win two or three of those five or at least win two with a couple of draws. Yes we will need to be looking at a minimum haul of four points from the Villa and Southampton games but I feel we will get some points from the bigger clubs yet to visit Selhurst. We are NOT the team that played in August, September and October that is for sure. We are a considerably better team with a stronger squad and far more disciplined in our approach. With the added goal threat from Ledley, Ince and Murray we need to be confident, not cocky, but certainly confident.

I would say the longer we stay in the premier league, the worse our amosphere will be. Look at the other sets of supporters in the division, even the away fans don't sing. It's embarrassing the amount of plaudits our support gets. It says much more about the typical premiership atmosphere than about how noisey we are.

Our support has been awesome for a few seasons now, but this season has pushed on even further, with recognition for other fans, players, managers, plaudits, etc., etc. We have also attracted new supports, which is a good thing, But will this continue next season if we do get relegated? I don't think our support at home has been better than it was last season, Bigger crowds yes but the atmosphere isn't better. Arthur has got much louder but the Holmsdale is quieter in my opinion. To many day trippers that have gone into Block C&D to soak up the HF atmosphere but not add anything to it. Our away support has been better,We are obviously taking more away than last season and the vast majority get behind the team throughout.It is all getting a bit cringe that we keep banging on about how great our support is.
As you brought up the Arthur, since I had to give my ST up a few years back I have been doing a tour of the ground. I was at the back of Block W for the Albion game. First time in the Arthur since Wimbledon "away". While the view was panned and scanned by the media gantry, the atmosphere was indeed cracking.

Last week someone posted a comment from a woman at the Arsenal game "why don't they just sit down and watch the game", like we were in the wrong. We should be proud of the noise we make, the players need it, it builds them up, and if it becomes even the slightest bit intimidating for the opposition then even better. If I want to sit in silence watching football, i'll get sky and watch it at home thanks.

Of course, we're all proud to have decent support at Palace but it's made to look far better by the rest of the division. Premiership football fans are spectators, customers and tourists and the longer a club stays in this division, the higher percentage of these fans you get.

Indeed and that is how I became a Palace fan many years ago. Was a fan of Coppell the player, and when I moved down here, with Palace being local I used to go to games sporadically. Over a period of time I became a Palace supporter, wasn't a conscious decision and I can't even tell you when it happened, it just did.
