Jules is 34, and will soon start to fade. You don't get many keepers like friedel who can keep going until they are 40. WH is 27 so I will see him as a future replacement for Jules. Funds rising £3m is a good investment for a keeper who will be starting next season or the season after.

Were not sure what has been said behind the scenes perhaps (especially with him opening a restaurant in Purley) Jules is planning retirement in the not too distant future and giving Pulis the heads up.

Jääskeläinen made it to 38 before he started to lose his form, but man did it go fast this season! Maybe Pulis is looking for an insurance 2nd keeper, or maybe Speroni's going to be offered big money to stay up with a PL bottom feeder if we go down. The point is, it's all maybes and speculation, isn't it?

Speroni is number 1,and as it stands deserves that, if he got a straight red, and was out for 3 games, would anyone really be happy with Price stepping in? that is the reason Hennesey has been bought, and in time will push Speroni for the number 1 spot, and that may be as near as next season, or if he impressed may even keep speroni out of the team. I love Speroni and want him to carry on being the number 1, but now being in the prem you need like for like to step in, and Hennesey and Alexandar dont fit that bill. I think the same, but it's what the boss thinks that matters, I doubt we would have spent £3m on an understudy, if indeed that amount was spent? A striker is what was needed in many peoples opinion, and that money should have gone there, but tony is the boss so we should find out in the next few weeks......could be interesting. Well as an ardent Palace fan for nearly seventy years I feel the boss might have at least explained to us what he has in mind. I do not say he has to explain to us but in all fairness , the fans do spend a lot of money supporting Palace and we do fill the ground so I think it makes for a much more pleasant relationship with the Club if fans know what the thinking is at both Board level and Managerial level .I for one cannot understand why at this stage we are buying a keeper when we already have a decent one and when when we cannot hit a cow in the arse with a banjo in front of goal. If Pulis does not have confidence in Price and Alexander I can understand why he would want a back up for Speroni but not for 3million quid if that is what we really spent. In my seventy years at Selhurst I have often been perplexed by what happens and what does not happen and for the most part I have lived in total disbelief and wild speculation. There has never ever been a dull moment at Selhurst and those who have suffered most through the many ups and downs have been the fans.

TPulis knows what he is doing. Whilst JS is a great shot stopper he is far to quiet and we need a keeper that will shout at our defenders when they are getting out of position or not marking anyone. Moxey needs someone to give him a shout now and again. Also his height restricts him from coming for crosses. As much as I respect him and appreciate all he has done I would like to see WH have a few games to see if he can do better.

While I'm a huge fan of Jules, and am pretty sure he will remain no.1 for the time being, I think this is another sensible move to strengthen the squad. Firstly, we need a quality replacement to step up if Jules is out for a spell. Secondly, we need someone lined up to succeed him as he is getting into his mid-30s. Who knows how long he can carry on for at this level, but if it's not long (or - whisper it - he moves to another club) then we need someone to step in. Don't think that was ever going to be Price or Alexander. Much better to prepare for the future than wait for it to happen and get caught with your pants down! It improves us in the present too, so a win win situation.

Yep, another massive Julian S fan here. He's had a very good season and deserves, on his performances, to remain the undisputed number one for the future. I think that being a fellow Welshman Tony P has always kept a special eye on Hennesey and thought he was just too good to pass up, particularly as he was third choice at Wolves. If it was my choice I'd sign Julian up for next season, but it isn't is it?
