Watching Burnley with an attendance of less than 51,810 and another 6,000 locked out just doesn't seem right.

My 1st Football Match Kermit. Been Palace ever since.

It's a joke.

Not to be taken entirely literally. When Roy Keane made the reference to "Prawn Sandwiches" (a generalisation you seem to accept) he was using a similar point....

Oh, look at me, I'm trying to explain the concept of humour to you when there's clearly a lot of foundation work to do first.

Step 1. Google the phrase "Difficulty with social imagination" and you can begin your journey to self discovery.

In the meantime, avoid any debates on humour.

what about a chant to the silent arsenal fans today:

"here for a meeting!
you're only here for a meeting"

Its not even funny, fcuking stupid if you ask me, its Sunday, Football stadium, not an office, Meeting??
Here for Prawn Sandwiches, maybe, meeting nah...

Now THIS is humour. I have to say 'here for a meeting' wasn't the funniest, no obvious relevance. Even though equally irrelevant I would prefer here for a seance as it's quieter.

I like it.

Here for a Seance works much better.

Or even: Here for a funeral. Are you here for a funeral?

No, come to think of it, Seance is much stronger

I started supporting in the early 60s but the first time I took my missus was the 1989 Blackburn game. As each successive goal went in the place went mental and she just sat there, very nearly the end of a beautiful relationship. She got the hang of it after three or four more games. Decided it was like a soap opera.

23,000 in the holmesdale alone! Was one of the fortunate one's to be in there as a young lad. Noal Brotherston looked like the oldest person in the stadium that night. Nowadays with health and safety it just couldn't happen with that many people. I do remember people being lifted out the crowd unconscious though!
The kit the attendance, the celebrations and pure joy! Is that friday night the best Palace moment?
It's hard call with the Cup semi victory or Cup final.

I was there that May in '79, and was at Wembley for the FAC final.

It's the Burnley game that I think about more than the final. Many, many times more.

Although I had a good view and space at Wembley, I could only see about 10% of the pitch at the Burnley match, and the only part of my body that I could move was my jaw!

Great post fella. Strange isn't it, we have it every week so think it's the norm - but even when I see some footy on the telly I do think its a bit quiet.

Against Hull I was really proud that when we were playing rubbish in the 2nd half that the volume actually went up and we really tried to lift the lads. Because certainly it can get very moany around me sometimes when it's not going well and that's the time the team needs us the most so was great to hear.

If the call and response with the Arthur can really catch on that would be ace - seen it done properly in Turkey and it's very impressive / intimidating.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue

Finch, agree with this. It would be something else that separates us from any othe EPL team. We've got the entire Premiership talking about our fans. I too have seen it done as per Turkey.

It wouldn't take too much organising either, great idea

OVER TO YOU HF

Wouldn't it be even better if the Whitehorse and Main Stand joined in?
So after the Holmesdale End have sung 'we're the Holmesdale over here, and the Arthur Wait Stand has replied 'we're the Arthur over here', why can't the Whitehorse then reply 'we're the Whitehorse over here' and then the Main Stand singing 'we're the Main Stand over here'.
That would surely create a great atmosphere all round the ground.

Definitely although would be difficult to organise with more than 2 I think ! I see the Whitehorse clapping and presumably singing but can never hear them from the LH - don't know if it's distance or lack of numbers.

Still think that the '79 Burnley game was the best atmosphere ever.. An amazing night under the Selhurst lights... But back to today: once again the Palace faithful win all the plaudits.. Quite a few Gooners tweeting that we are the best English fans ever to have visited the Emirates... If we do manage to stay up it will be in no small part due to the great support both home and away..
