I hate to say it, but I do love transfer deadline day. For me, it has taken over what cup final day used to be when I was a kid. What made cup final day so special was that it was virtually the only live game you'd see on tv all year, so they made a whole day event of it. I shall be sitting down tomorrow evening with beer, wine and nibbles, maybe a dirty kebab, and lapping it all up. Only wish they had some of the presenters doing a its a knock out special.

I think this transfer window is what relegates teams. They should scrap it because it is unfair to clubs such as us.

If all teams kept the same squad for each season, then the money-laden clubs couldn't buy up survival players. Maybe a renamed 25 in Jan due to unexpected injuries (or players that don't fit in/are cr*p) should be all that happens.

Look where we are now, we were favorites for the drop until recently, now this window opens and we can't afford the players we (maybe) need. Will we be relegated due to lack of finances?

I do hope not!

Nobody can afford it. That is the situation. It's who wants to spend money now, and the next season, and next season until all the options have run dry. If we can survive for a season or more without going into the red financially, think how much of an edge for more than just a season we might have over the 3 teams coming up, and the few teams that haven't kept their powder dry and are destined for the drop.

A balance of here and now and later on. Don't be too tight, and don't go mad so that next season and the one after it's already spent before Sky write the next cheque. There is also the 90 year old main stand to do but if we can get the balance right then several years of Sky money will help a lot.

Many clubs can afford more than us, ALL of the clubs in the Prem and quite a few others in lower divisions.

My point is they can afford it for a while, not indefinitely. £20-£30mil losses each year can cause serious problems maintaining quality in your squad.

I wouldn't worry about the rest of the Prem, just the bottom half and what their financial issues are.

As has been proved time and time again, money may buy you players, but it won't necessarily get you a fully functioning squad.........

Point taken and respected. The worry is not just the bottom half of the league, but a "Wilf" like player being snatched away from us by a money-laden club which won't even put him on the bench.

Indeed, but we can lose quality players mid season to Mr Howmuchdoyouwantovich.

What precisely is this article trying to say? It doesn't seem to have any meaningful point to make.

Not to mention that it displays all the literary competence of a 14-year-old schoolboy.

Hopefully, Zaha will provide a good example of how to have a nice big paycheque and an even bigger backside from sitting on the bench

The whole thing is about Sky and viewing figures which is essentially a perpetual cycle. If Sky didn't get the viewing figures for it's programmes(deadline day's and matches)then advertisers wouldn't advertise. If the teams don't have good players then subscribers wouldn't subscribe, in turn the clubs wouldn't get the money from Sky in the first place and so on and so on. Basically an Australian business man runs the football in this country and that doesn't sit right with me to be honest.

If he was female. I'd agree with you. But we could have used him this season. And I only used him as an example.

Also, excuse me for the sexist remark please. I live in the outback now and I can't help it. It is local banter.

I don't like that either. But I like just as much being governed on football by unelected European dic*heads.
