Their keeper made three great saves motm soft second goal.We played much better second half Gayle played well must start tuesday.Stone wall pen could have saved us.Dissapointed Williams did not start but Paddy had a nice run out fingers crossed Parr is ok.

1st half they deserved the lead then atmosphere second half seemed to spur them on & deserved the equaliser disappointing in ascendancy to then concede 2nd half even maybe shaded. Slow out of the blocks 1st half & lacklustre cost.

We got what we deserved nothing in my opinion, although our 2 nd half performance was better we were not at it in the first half and lost the midfield battle.
Jedi and Ward were sadly missed and the long haired midfielder from Wigan ran the show. The performance of both of our full backs was not good enough as were OKeefe and Guediora in midfield. I had a great day yesterday with the white horse and was well worth the journey up to Wigan ,Bring on a Hull
On a side note the ref was a complete Homer and without doubt favoured Wigan and cost us probably the chance of a replay.

There were some poor performance out there yesterday.
Both full back had bad games. Mariappa was caught out badly for the first goal. Parr was caught up field a few time. Paddy had a decent game but was obviously not match fit.

Did Boycie get a good reception...bar the blatant foul in the box and following chest-barge into Gayle..?

Boyce and Watson both got good receptions!

Watson was probably Man of the Match and couldn't help celebrating his goal!

Boyce made a point of coming to applaud the whole of the Palace support! Fair play to him! Watson was more concerned at the end with having a catch up with Paddy!

totally agree - full backs (including Moxey when he replaced Parr) were poor and Mariappa's positioning is just woeful. The ease at which he over committed himself for the 2nd goal (when we were on top) was a disgrace and he made no attempt to try and tackle back. Just is not a right back. Also thought Jules was a little slow getting down for that goal.

Similarly I was hoping our midfield would impress but sadly none had particularly impressive performances - especially disappointed in Guediora who could be a class act. The fact that Ben Watson was the best midfielder on display sums us up a bit.

Not sure why he started with both Jerome and Chamakh anyway and then take them off when we are losing - hard on Gayle as he started and score din the last round.

Always disappointed to lose any game. Only really went for it in last 10 minutes.

Ref was very poor and I thought Wigan were quite physical at times. When Parr got injured he gave a foul to us but didn't even book the player. Penalty was a blatant pull back - had to be given

Thanks. He was saying in the paper beforehand that he never got to say goodbye to the fans, and that he just wanted to play in the prem...thought it sounded a bit like a come and get me, so was interested how he played and what our response to him was like after fouling Gayle then barging him right at the end

I was at the game, slightly disappointed at our performance.

The bad: Mariappa had a nightmare at right back today, it amazes me as to why he's constantly in that position. Chamakh and Jerome were ineffective up front, Bannan's corner was over the line and we should of had a penalty.

The good: Paddy was surprisingly solid, he kept Maynard quiet and got a great reception from the fans. Gayle's run and shot was impressive, he was very nearly a game changer.

got to agree chamakh didnt fancy the northern weather and was totally useless and apart from the one effort jerome not sighted.have to say dwight and wilbs made a difference and at least made us a threat.mariappa at fault for both goals and ball must have taken a strange bounce in front of jules as normally he would have stopped it.paddy good comeback but should have done better with a free header in front of us all

Well the Palace fans turned up. Shame the team didn't until well into the second half. How many of us were there. I guess at least 3,000. Paddy's attempt went straight into the keepers hands. If it went lower and to either side it would have been in. All in all a very lack luster attempt.

Mariappa was very very poor, what on earth was he doing for the second goal ? Ran out to challenge guy then stopped dead and guy just ran round him.

O'Keefe was non existant....if he had not of played we would not have missed him.

Only bright sparks were Gayle, Wilbs and Paddy. The rest were woefull.

The ref didn't help either, after numerous fouls by the same players like Boyce etc he went yellow card crazy in injury time... and as for the penalty he was the only one in the ground who would not have given it. The Parr incident guy definitely went in with arm raised.

Then the 20 min walk to station in pouring rain.....does it get any better.
