Got very involved in the Fan Zyiyi and Sun Jihai transfers in late nineties which was unique in its time, travelled to China and negotiated the deal on behalf of the club as well as the Marketing angle with the media.
We love you,we love you,we love you and where you play we follow,we follow,we follow, cos we support the Palace, the Palace, the Palace and thats the way we like it,we like,we like it...WOAH,WOAH,WOAH!!! A winner is a dreamer who never gives up... |

First, Jordan is probably right. But doing what you can to have a secure job rather than blind loyalty to an owner is not necessarily a crime. Second, PA is a sales guy. Before becoming MD, he headed up Palaces corporate sales. The bottom line is, while he acts as COO and runs the day-to-day business, by trade he manages the sale of things that Palace sell to make money (corporate dinners, boxes, etc.) As COO, he's occasionally stepped up and got involved in the odd thing like transfers, too, though less so now. Reality: he's basically an untrained ex-sportsman who's got a gregarious personality and is a born survivor who doesn't bring a hell of a lot to the party but doesn't offend anyone either and is a useful enough flunky to have around. As, after all these years, he knows how the club works (and probably which closets one or two skeletons are buried in), he endures. It's probably the exaggerated job title that irks people.

I'm pretty sure he was instrumental in getting CPFC2010 together to buy the club and generates a lot of money for the club, while running the various departments. Also a really nice bloke.

Yes, he was. In Jordan's probably revisionist historical view, PA was assembling the takeover troops on one hand while being paid by SJ to be loyal to his ownership on the other but you could arguably interpret that as acting in the best interests of the club rather than the owner. Whatever.

There's a poster called SW16 Girl on the BBS. She's very knowledgeable on all things administration, us and Pompey etc, and SJ and SP. I don't know if she ever wants to revisit HOL but she has an account and could put a few people straight on how SJ wanted to keep control of everything, even though he steered it into the rocks already.

this is SJ all over. It was always what something might be worth, not what it actually was worth. They sound as bad as each other then

How on earth can a CEO survivor TWO administrations and come out of it all stronger than ever (and on more money). I heard rumours that he was whoring himself out to our competitors whilst we were in admin. I don't think he's needed. Steve Parish now works full time for palace so there's no reason for us to keep him. And I agree with the old contract he is on. He is rolling in cash. The club even paid for his children to be sent to boarding school so I was told by a friend who worked at the club.
I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that. |
