singing "takes it up the ar$e" to Tim Flowers all thoose years ago in a pre-season friendly as he did his rather effeminate warm up, didn't phase him at all, kept the banter levels up but had no effect at all, he was even deliberately mincing for his goal kicks at one point.

That said, I see no harm in singing "your kids, we're gonna kidnap your kids" at them just to put them off.

I had forgotten about this. Now having read your quote, it bought it all flooding back. It was really funny, flowers really milked it still making me laugh now.

I am all for bringing back cringe worthy goalie banter especially if it was as funny as that.

Does anyone remember playing Liverpool and as redknapp stepped up to take a corner the whole of the holmesdale singing "does she take it up the a@@se" in reference to Louise his then girlfriend.
Jason Mcateer sneaked behind him looked at the holmesdale and nodded......my all time funny moment in football.
Bring back the childish banter

Until that point, lil Redknapp looked well miffed, then the seasoned pro Macateer obviously just told him to roll with it and if I remember rightly, we even applauded them as they turned round laughing.

That's it then, banter and p1ss taking chants is the way forward. Tuesday vs Hull, "takes it up the ar$e" will make a return. STick that in your PC pipe and smoke it tree huggers.

Went to a Geoff Thomas charity game at Selhurst some years back Liverpool team of 90 vs Palace team of 90. Not many there and we were sat right behind the goal. Bruce Grobbelaar was having a great bit of banter with us. Despite my mate being a Liverpool fan we both spent the game winding him up with childish stuff such as "dodgy keeper". In return he kept waving to us, sticking his tongue out and show boating with and without the ball! I guess the scoreline was unimportant to him in an exhibition match so he could afford to.

Remember going to watch Welling play once and abusing Paul Barron through out the first half he looked so p!ssed of when he came out for second half and we had walk round the other end. One of the great joys of non league football. He probably got it all the time and was alright about it to be honest I never really minded Barron.

Might add, it's also worth winding up a linesperson...

I'm not talking about going against the respect campaign but sometimes you can get to them with banter. I know it's a different level and the assistants aren't going to be as professional as at the top level, but when watching non-league football we always get on the back of them to try to make them slip up.

My favourite was a linesman that we decided looked like Gary Numan (he probably didn't a huge amount) and we spent virtually the entire first half singing "Cars" at him on and off. He knew exactly what we were referring to and turned round and laughed at us once to which we went "come on lino, keep your eye on the game mate". He missed several offsides against my local team in the first half. Think they possibly scored from one as well.

I remember an opposition goalie making a howler at Dulwich hamlet and the 50 or so hamlet behind the goal singing " Scotlands Scotlands number one , scotlands number one " . when you are about ten foot away that must hurt .

interviewer " iggy , do you think you influenced anybody?"
iggy pop " I think I wiped out the 60`S "

Quote kingdowieonthewall at 21 Jan 2014 6.41pm

this barracking of oppo goal keepers should be brought back.
circa 1985-
either away or the Homesdale, on taking a goal kick
the opposition goalie would get a resounding
'you're s*** ! AAAAAAAH! as he kicked.
best I heard was WBA away.

I remember that having a massive effect on mark bosnich when we played villa at a proper rainy night match , think it might have been a league cup game , he made some truly bad clearances from back passes and we scored from one or two of them

Or in the semi final at Villa Park! Don't think he was showboating, but deffo having a bit of banter when asked "Brucie, Brucie what's the score?

Also best one I heard (maybe imagined) was when Dan s***tu was taking a goal kick for Watford, the crowd gave it a "you're s***toooo"

Leicester used to do this until atleast recently.

Utterly cringeworthy.

not done LOUD.
never heard it done for the last 10-15 years.
used to intimidate the f*** out of a lot of keepers.
we used to do it to good effect, the whole end , not just a few.
you weren't even born.

It used to be the loudest noise they could come up with. Pitiful support and no imagination.
