"Holloway Style" but come bottom of the league. "Pulis Style" and survive in the Prem
In my eyes there has been very little chance in the style of play since the manager changed, the players are just working as more of a unit under pulis.

Now, Pulis has got them understanding that it's fine to not have the ball. We're more solid as a result and when we do get it, we're actually looking like we know how to pass a football.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Since Pulis took charge only Arsenal have more clean sheets than us... ...and no evidence of hoofball, just simple football that realises we arent going to have huge amounts of possession so the game plan is set accordingly

I notice on Saturday we have stopped those 60 yard Delaney diagonal passes that used to go to Murray last season and now Delaney has started going on bombing runs they have been pretty effective against spurs in 1st half and on Saturday seems we are playing on the floor more then with Ollie!!

To be honest we look better than we did under Holloway. We're not going to get the players in to play attractive football all the time, and if Pulis uses our current crop in a style that gets results, that's fine by me. This. The football we played (or failed to) vs Swansea and most of the Fulham game was atrocious. Whereas against Cardiff for example we played some lovely stuff - Chamakh's goal?

Well, we haven't become Stoke Mk 2 have we ? TP has the team very well drilled and organised. Proof of that especially at the Etihad. The challenge for the players is being disciplined and mentally strong enough to keep the highest levels of concentration required. His use of Chamakh illustrates his tactical nous and his ability to see things in players that others don't. Our play on the break has improved, and with more accomplished finishing we would have maybe a few more points on the board. Strange, I welcomed Holloway's appointment and then quickly went off him. Other way around with TP, I'm very impressed with what he's brought to the club.

I do still find it quite amazing what people expect of Pulis or in fact any manager considering the squad we have.

I know we're still a million miles off, but if TP can keep us up this season, as I've already said in another thread, he would genuinely deserve the manager of the year award. Not that he would actually get it, of course. Don't know if anyone agrees, but I reckon the squad we have this year is arguably the most limited of any that we've had in our Premier league stints, relative to the rest of the league. Pulis is working wonders to produce the results we've had so far, especially after the disastrous start under Ollie.

It's clear that Pulis's method works but I have seen the club play far more entertaining football in the past. If we were to survive this season, could it come at a cost? We seem to be content with scrappy 1-0 wins against the weaker sides and employing a damage limitation mentality against the stronger sides. Our win against Stoke was technically perfect but football is also about entertainment- 14 goals in 22 games is disappointing for many fans.

It just wouldn't be the same.... Think of all those heart in mouth moments that are part of being a Palace fan... 1-0 up 40 minutes to go, and the green tapestry laid out in fromt of you looking more and more like the Alamo, as a careful mapped 4-4-2 becomes a 9-0-1, in a flat back 9 formation, with the opposition indians marauding around... I'm not sure what I'd do if we were ever 4-0 up.... maybe go and get a Bovril !!!
