the only one sad is you for being so botherd by it . i made a comment on what i think about improving the team so what ?. i It's incredibly unfair, unjustified and unnecessarily negative, that's what. They didn't have a single header at goal in open play and you're having a go at the full back for an apparently endless stream of crosses that didn't take place?

A full-back whose natural position is centre-back.
It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. - John Bostock (Nov 2007) |

you must have been watching a diffreant game mate i lost count of the number of crosses assaidi got in okay not meny of them fell on stokes players heads but that was down to gabbs a dd etc blocking them . i do not think it was unfair, unjustified and unnecessarily negative at all. we won the game and played well but thats not to say theres nothing to be learnt buy the last game

Considering Mariappa is a dedicated CB I think he's adjusted reasonably well to his new roll.

yes i to think he has done well going from a cb to a rb . but i disagree that he done his job well on the day he was good going forward im not saying that he could have stopped every cross but from my recolection he did not block one of them from getting in the box , just feel that if he is to carry on as a rb then one of his man jobs is to prevent crosses comming in , and for my likeing he seemed like he staned off allowing the cross to come in ....you can not do this as a rb time and time agin as eventually one will land in ht right place and the cb will not be able to head it out

Having Mariappa filling in for Ward is great. He has really done well for himself at right back. He was bombing forward and supporting Puncheon on every attack, and I think that is great for someone who is a natural Centre Back (Couldn't see Rambo doing that!). You can't say he was abused by Ossaidi, alot of right backs are. He done well vs him and did really well containing Redmond vs Norwich. It is very hard to see whether TP will use Adlene as a DM rather then a AM, just becuase of his presence. Until then I think we will continue to see Ward at CM with Jedi. Will be nice to see Jack Hunt back though.

Thought Mariappa played well, a lot of good headers in particular. Very noticable at times because of his style of play that he is really a CB covering that position. Can't say that he lost his duel with Assaidi, who didn't make any clear chances for them, while it was Mariappa bombing on and putting him under pressure that led to our goal, wasn't it?

He did and does OK but lets not go overboard - he isnt a RB and it does show.

Will be interesting to see if he ever gets a fair go for us at CB, or whether he remains a versatile backup option. Or even if TP does persevere with him at RB and tries to convert him fully? Hunt may be on the way back but he is still an unknown quantity for us.

I must admit one thing my mate and I picked up on Saturday was how different the crossing was for both teams. I don't know of the exact stats but the majority of our crosses were blocked and certainly didn't create danger. Stoke seemed to whip a cross in at every opportunity and although they may not have found their player everytime, they did at least beat the first man. I think Bolasie and Puncheon were pretty good at attacking on Saturday, but they do need to work on that final ball into the box. Even if we buy a top quality striker, he will need decent service into the box.

As the person who also started the anti-Wilbraham thread (a minute apart), you are such a sad human being. The team wins, restricts the opposition to two shots on target, and you choose to batter two guys who are working bloody hard to get into the team. Mariappa had to deal with Assaidi (a liverpool player), and then a fresh Arnautovic (ex-Inter) (their two biggest threats) and still Crouch had no aerial service. And he's being played out of position. Wilbraham created chances, held up the ball exceptionally well and worked so hard to try and restrict their time on the ball. I'm not saying people are ever devoid of criticism, but compare the value of their side to ours. I cannot imagine what you'd be like after a defeat. Sort out your priorities, your pure negativity is horrendous. Edited by ambrose7 (18 Jan 2014 8.19pm) Well Bloody Said !!
