I probably only stood at the Whitehorse end 3 or 4 times when it was an open terrace. I do remember one of those games was the match in which Steve Kember made his debut. Back in the 60s before the AW stand was built you paid your 2/6 and had the choice of three terraces. Very often supporters would move from one end to the other to be behind the goal at which their team was attacking.

Yes those were the days when the young and the restless moved about either to release their pent up disappointment or worry .We use to reside on the high ground behind where the Arthur Wait stand is now erected and some of those who congregated behind the goals would join us for the second half. We were usually frozen stiff, wet through or just numb with disappointment that Palace were a goal or two down. We had lots of fun and I now reckon they were my happiest days at Selhurst Park which did not cost much money. I use to walk home from school every day during the week and save my bus fare so as to be ready to go to the Palace on Saturday afternoon first team or reserves. Gosh that was 67 years ago now but it seems like yesterday!.

ote]Kermit8 at 01 Sep 2013 7.30pm My favourite haunt. Was gutted when it was pulled down and replaced by one less than half the size. Not only a great game here [Link] but some cracking views of the terrace as it was.

Excellent, chance no. 6724 for me to post the picture of me playing at SP in the 1980 Croydon Schools' Cup Final, which my School Sylvan High beat our arch rivals Edenham 2-1. This was taken from the Main Stand of me in goal in front of the old Whitehorse Terrace. Attachment: Selhurst save-1.jpg (2,762.29Kb)
