I never saw Vic Rouse play but my Dad did & here is his comment-:

"The write up on Vic Rouse was interesting & the cup game at Villa will always stick in my memory. Actually it was Harry Burrows who scored the last minute winner catching Rouse yards off his line.

I had seen him make this same error before in a crucial match at the Goldstone ground in 1958, the year the new fourth division was formed. We needed points to be in the top half of the table to avoid being founder members of the new 4th division & Brighton were striving for promotion. Rouse conceded a replica goal just as he did at Villa Park and we lost that game 3-2 and failed to make the top half of the table.

Hand on heart Vic was not one of my top 6 keepers since after the war."

A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas!

Will always be a hero of mine as he presented me and the rest of the team with our trophy when we won the Cubs Cub competition!

Saw myself as a left half in the Ron Flowers mould in those days!;-)
