Palace Photo Man has it right,I think. I watched all the home ties in this terrific run & the final @ Highbury versus Aston Villa, where Terry Fenwick scored a fantastic winner from outside the box (a feat he had achieved the year before in the home leg of the 2-legged final final v.Everton!,which finished 1-0 on agg.). Steve Brennan was a gifted mid-fielder & Sparks was a very lively right-back. Apropos of Terry Fenwick...I wish he'd flattened the cheating git,Maradona,on his mazy run in that infamous game in the 1986 WorldCup in Mexico.Tough as nails was Fenwick. Is the photo from 1977 or 1978? On a second look, I think this pic might be from the 1977 triumph at Selhurst.

It is Deffo Martin Hinshelwood and Mick Hill

For the Youth Cup Winners

Deffo Walsh, Fry, Sanson, Leahy, Murphy, Fenwick, Hillaire

XX, Gilbert, Nicholas, Lovell, Brennan

Steve Brennan scored at Lincoln for the 1st team in a re-arranged game after the original was abandoned at half-time with Palace leading 1 - 0 Ricky Heppolite scoring.

I cannot recall his christian name but the other player from that group was Ransom or Ransome and no I am not confusing him with Kenny.

the spot where you have Lovell is wrong it is Kevin Dare he played in both finals and was marking Brenden Ormsby in the Villa game, he told me all about that game.

So that's Kevin Dare? I've spent 35 years thinking it was Lovell. Thanks, BL.

And that other one, front left - not Sparks - but as Joe Bloggs says it probably is Peter Ransome as I think he was sub in the first final.

he didn't exactly mark him as Dare was a left back and Ormsby was a centre half, but he said he one of their best players.

got a picture of Lovell here from Football Hero's dont know if anyone can reconcile his mug from one of the youth sides, he was banging in goals for the youth and reserve team when I started following Palace as a kid sadly he never fulfilled his early success.

Sorry to disagree but it IS Steve Lovell in the front row, not Kevin Dare. I believe that the picture is of the 1976 Youth Cup winners but I may be wrong. The lad bottom left was a Ransom or similar, can't remember.
What I CAN remember is that it was one hell of a good group of players!
