The worst ones are generally when we lose 1-0 to a team that is utter, utter, utter garbage and don't even turn up, but we let in a stupid goal then have no imagination to unlock them. Had one of these against I think Plymouth a couple of years ago, the game was dire. That 4-0 v scunthorpe was fairly hideous though, the 3-0 v Millwall was shocking but we've had worse performances.

There have been more than a few but mid eighties, away at Grimsby we were down to ten men and I think 3-0 down after about fiftenn minutes...it really sticks in my mind that one..what a f***ing trip. Mickey the Meths fell down in between the train lines incredibly pissed on the way home and had to be rescued so at least that lightened the mood

Too many to mention but one that stands out for me was the Grimbsy midweek shocker in the 80's in front of barely 3,000 fans. Edited by Sussex Based Palace (02 Jul 2011 12.39pm)

Sheffield United @ home - 2003. We lost 2-1 due to our inability to change tactics, playing the ball in the air constantly against a side who were much better at it than we were. Every time the ball was played (and subsequently lost) there was a huge groan around Selhurst. We were really lackluster that day...
The face is familiar but I can't quite remember my name... |

I have seen way too many poor performances than I wish to remember but the poignant one was the 0-5 defeat to Wigan,03/4,outweighing even the relegation defeat at Arsenal in 91. I was living in Spain at that time and my youngest Son was out their for a holiday.I was working that day and it was an early kick off on Sky,so we decided to find a bar to watch the game. We ended up in a bar/restaurant called the White Rose and was owned by Leeds fans.We sat there absolutely gobsmacked as these guys from Leeds were given us big grins taking the p**s and we left early, couldn't take anymore. I had the last laugh though as we went on to get promoted and Leeds relegated so I went back in there for a beer and had a little chat with them, sometime later..they weren't impressed.

First half vs Coventry in the FA Cup last season - it was horrible to watch, and N'Diaye just has to be singled out, a ten year old could have done better. But Millwall away last season was appalling.
It's what other people fail to grasp, that I pick up on |

Theres been so many poor performances especially in recent seasons but the 1 which sticks in my mind the most was when we lost to scunthorpe at Selhurst 4-0!I was unemployed at the time & spent most of my dole money going to the game & it was such a waste of money! Plenty of games against shrewsbury in the mid to late 80s qualify, they used to be a bit of a bogey team if I remember rightly.

We didn't get much joy out of Peterboro, Chesterfield, Bournemouth, Tranmere or Walsall back in the 70s when we were in Division III - or Port Vale - seem to remember several murderous home draws. Esp v Chesterfield - needed to beat them at home to stay in the promotion race April '76 with Big Mal still in charge. Another home draw with the direrites ... 0-0 this time, giving us a song from the Holmesdale: "que sera sera, whatever will be will be, we're staying in division three, que sera sera."
