What about Paul Barron? He's the one I remember from me young days.

Remember being on the coach in the traffic on the motorway coming back and drwaing up alongside a Brighton supporters coach, who gave us some abuse - they had won away that same night (at Wolves I think) - what a nightmare, but was strangely memorable to have been there

Nigel Martyn, still the best keeper Palace have had. Speroni is a close second, then Carlo Nash and Nico Vaesen, the latter especially. If it weren't for his heroics in the play-offs, we wouldn't of been in the Premier League!
"Look at that. Accident blackspot? These aren't accidents! They're throwing themselves into the road gladly! Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness!" |

I think that Paul Hammond should be on the list of contenders. He was in goal when I used to go home and away, round about 73-75. I think that he left to go and play in America. Anyone else remember him?

As one who has been to Selhurst as a boy in the 40's Palace have been generally blessed in this position (and used to have reliable goal scorers, too: Ronnie Allen, Cliff Holton, Johnny Byrne and then Wright & Bright - when will the next one arrive ? - hope it's soon.)
