how can you forget Ray Wilkins?? Played one game for us, broke his foot, then on his recovery, left to manage QPR! Good times, haha The worst debut I ever saw - and that is saying something. I can look back and laugh now, but at the time it was horrific.

Here's the list - but as it's so big I've only included those who have played 5 games or under. 5 - R Ross (1905 - 1906)

Cedric Carasso is worth a mention. I remember when Trevor Francis brought him on, he looked like he'd been working at the local pie shop! Went on to become a French international and Champions League regular!
Who the hell was Kenny Verhoenen? Anyone? Was considered a crap player even for Belgian league standards, and that's saying something. I remember friends of mine who, at the time, played in our premier league and laughed at me for supporting a club that allowed proper donkeys like him to come over. Until I told them he was probably on more a week than they were per month in Belgium Still believe there are plenty of Belgians who could do a good job in England (just look at vandenborre, Van Damme, Vermaelen, Kompany, Boyata) .. but if you're not scouting our regions then it's a wasted opportunity and the majority will keep going to Holland and Germany

I remember adding Gavin Heeroo to my Championship Manager Editor Database. Seem to remember he was a bit too good though, I often did that with the palace youngsters.

I can't be bothered to look through the whole list but I seem to remember us having a left-back on loan who got taken off after about 20 minutes on his debut ('away' at Wimbledon? Or was I just sitting in the Arthur for a change...?) for being utterly crap. Kabir Ali maybe?
This post is dedicated to the bloke I hit in the face in celebration. |

I vaguely recall Wayne Martin in the 83-84 season. He was crap. Andy Barnes too in 91-92, wasn't he signed from someone like Sutton and released not long after? Edited by fubar (11 Aug 2010 9.46pm)

Very true. Apparently you have a superb generation of players coming through, I think Gabriel Marcotti even tipped them for the 2014 world cup, and he knows his onions. Lost 1-0 against Finland yesterday with absolute TERRIBLE football .. something tells me 2014 is a bit too soon LOL. 2214 could be an option though.
An absolute animal, if he keeps his head he'll be massive !
