Mistakes are not the issue. Allegations of systematic cover ups and the reasons behind them are the issue. No. Just as others at the time didn't. He was presented in the press as a paragon of virtue. This white knight who rode into the hospital on his bike, apparently all the way from London. I knew it was just a few miles though but thought that was just what "personalities" did. The family didn't seem to think anything was amiss either and it was their child who was seriously ill and I wasn't going to add to their difficulties. It was only later, when the stories about him started to emerge, that 2 and 2 started to make 4 and I realised how dodgy he had made me feel. It's easy to be wise after the event. Those days were different. Our expectations were different. Hopefully we have learned from them and do things better now.

No blame intended to be attached but that’s a slightly different interpretation to the prescience you seemed to be claiming earlier.

Then I am glad to have been able to clarify what I remember happening. I have though reported suspected paedophilia behaviour in the past but not in the UK. Despite the rather nasty insinuations of another poster elsewhere in this thread this was in the Philippines where I saw someone regularly in the company of several under age girls who were apparently living with him. I reported this to the Police who weren't the least interested, so I went to the school and social welfare authority who were. What they did is though unknown to me. That last contact led to me organising a service whereby schools in England kept their redundant text books, I collected them and recycled them to schools in the Philippines. It seems schools here routinely have their books updated and this leads to piles of perfectly usable, but out of date, books which the caretakers then have to incinerate. As schools in the Philippines are very short of resources (sharing a pencil is common place) it made sense to try to put the two together. Which has nothing to do with the subject of course but it is something that really ought to be done on a much larger scale!

When I was working in pakistan, all the ex-pat families regularly gave the local schools, children's books which were no longer needed by their children. Far better use for them and think how not having to incinerate them helps climate change

Far better use for them and think how not having to incinerate them helps climate change I have sometimes wondered if we ought to try to turn this into a bigger, even national, movement. Whether it's something that we here could do, putting our political differences aside and concentrating on just all being decent human beings, or whether this is something for an established charity, is an open question.

Sorry but isn't the 'core topic' Tommy Robinson? A new messiah about to bring down the bbc, a man imprisoned for telling the truth and an all round friend to the under represented and needy? Or maybe we all accept now he is a narcissistic self publicising oick who jumps on band wagons and seems scared to use his own name. Edited by orpingtoneagle (15 Sep 2019 6.18pm) Are you suggesting S Y-L is a Social Justice Warrior? Ooh, some people won’t like that. You’ll be saying next that he didn’t jump on the grooming gangs scandal until it was featured in that obscure publication ‘The Times’.

Yeah, you'd certainly be saying that if your knowledge of timelines was inaccurate. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Sep 2019 4.22pm)

This has been happening for decades on a huge scale. A public inquiry surely should have happened once we realized this was happening in 20+ cities. The only reason it's not happening is that the government and Police fear the Muslim population. They appease because they do not have the numbers to control any widespread rioting and would have to call in the army should this happen. This cover up is the worse scandal in UK history. All true, essentially social and neo liberalism created this problem and its representatives are going to do its damnest to obfuscate on how we got here. Their ideas on the future are as realistic and truthful as their pronouncements are believable. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Sep 2019 5.03pm)

Another tragic story that most people won’t notice and will never be investigated fully or debated by the MSM As per the animal kingdom, predators prey on the weak and vulnerable. Some of those living in certain types of bubbles would much rather watch a Disney movie.....they don't send their sons and daughters into the professions that deal with these problems.....they would rather criticise the whole thing from the safety of their bubbles.
