There is loads of freely available books on this subject and plenty of information on the web. Do your own research. I once knew a senior climate change scientist whose integrity was beyond doubt. She knew it was fact more than 20 years ago. That's all I needed to convince me. The idea that it is just a way to fleece people like you is risible. Grow up! I do believe the earth is getting warmer. But the scientists have got predictions wildly wrong and many are leftists with a political agenda which Trump rightly points out. Governments use green as an excuse to tax more. Al Gore in 2006: "Humans may have only 10 years to save the planet from turning into a total frying pan." AOC in 2019: "The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change." So what's your solutions then? Tell me what you agree with AOC's Green New Deal? The green new deal is very far from perfect, but while we have collosal morons like Trump in the hot seat we need people to highlight how crazy and dangerous climate change deniers truly are.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Ok the great knowall. That natural cycles occur is not, and has never been, in dispute. Such cycles are slow, taking centuries to evolve. Man made warming has occurred over a much shorter period and is something alongside any natural change. Using taxation as a weapon to help steer the needed reaction is perfectly sensible. I am not a scientist but I trust them as I trust the politicians who have the difficult job of convincing us, the unscientific masses, of the need to react to what the scientists can see is happening. You either believe in science, or you choose to believe your prejudices. I trust experts. I wouldn't ask a plumber to do brain surgery on me. If you choose to then that's up to you. I have read enough to convince me but I am certainly not going to look it all up again now just to convince you.

Edited by Penge Eagle (27 Mar 2019 11.35pm) Oh I know that some politicians have made strong statements designed to spark people into action and that the precise scale of the problem remains impossible to predict, which results in a variety of scenarios and predictions. I guess too that some corrupt Governments might see it as an opportunity. After all there are a lot of Governments but in general I think the responsible politicians are trying to do the difficult job of convincing people to have to accept unwelcome lifestyle changes, and spend money on things which don't directly benefit them, for reasons that the deniers say are unnecessary. They have to do that AND still get elected! Not easy. I don't have a magic solution but I do think we need to take this seriously. There will have to be, as there already is, a multitude of actions taken, some technical, some lifestyle changes. What I don't yet think there is enough attention being given to is that it is probably already too late to stop it effecting many places. We can help to stop the rise but not completely. So we need to start planning for what this means. I guess this will require us to build substantial sea defences in many places and even to abandon and rebuild in some. Losing agricultural land in some places but acquiring more in others plus the need to conserve water resources puts technological demands on us. We need to learn to accept such things as GM in order to cope.

I don't mean to be facetious but as someone who speaks passionately about the environment, you have no specific solutions other than moving agricultural land and conserving water. That's no better than the kind of stuff Trump says. Meanwhile... 'Key Greenland glacier growing again after shrinking for years' [Link]

I'm sorry, but AOC makes Trump look like Einstein – she is so dumb. You and the likes of AOC can go on about climate change all you like, but it means absolutely nothing unless you have credible solutions to tackle it. In the end, her Green New Deal got ZERO votes in the Senate. It's like finishing last in a race and saying, 'At least I tried'. 'Why Renewables Can’t Save the Planet' [Link]

'Key Greenland glacier growing again after shrinking for years' [Link] I am not a climate change scientist, nor a politician so I don't have either the knowledge or the means to produce specific solutions. Unlike Trump I believe the consensus, especially as I used to know one of the world's leading scientists in this area who totally convinced me of the need for action. She was modest, lived simply and saw this issue as her life's work. She knew it is real. Trump probably knows it's real too but won't act because to do so isn't in his own interest. As climate change doesn't mean everywhere gets warmer but only that the average is warmer, some glaciers building again is to be expected.

Trump won’t even run in the race because he is too damn lazy. People who finish last sometimes get better over time and start to win. Legislation is a process and it takes time to tailor bills to be acceptable to all. Maybe the green new deal will never get there, but once again it is far better to understand there is a real issue here and try to think if ways to tackle it. If the approach to the environment is left to the GOP then Venice will be underwater in 100 years. There is no start, no progress, no discussion while the president denies climate change is actually a problem. As for Trump, the only people who make him look like Einstein are probably Corsi or Stone.

No, it isn't. Population is at the heart of all our environmental problems. The only way to fix them is to reduce the human population. We will not stop developing countries from raping and polluting the Earth just as we have done before so all this green talk is futile. Don't worry. We might have another ice age by then or maybe Yellowstone will finally erupt. That will take care of the problem.
