I'd say that the effect on the opposition is more important. I'm sure they would rather play in front of a quiet home crowd. A noisy crowd, with energy is going to effect both teams - how many times has a player been booed only to put out a man of the match display. I feel the HF don't make much of a difference, but here is the thing.. if they do, then our players have a lot to answer for, as the past 6 years haven't been great.. so a few blokes singing gets the results but wages, training, manager doesn't? Ultimately the HF make it more enjoyable for the other fans... simple as that.

I honestly dont believe the Chairman does know more about this subject than the rest of us. As for the players. NONE have cited the HF as any better than any other Palace fan so what are you talking about? The 'My dad says so so it must be true' argument is a little childish and not at all effective Wow! You are deluded then I am afraid.

Agree with this, we all know that for the majority of footballers the money and fame aren't enough, they want to be the centre of attention and adored by the fans. Good luck trying that in any other job, but if you're a narcissistic spoilt child who can kick an inflated ball around half decently whilst carrying your inflated ego, then football is the career to go for. Rant aside, if the players need that constant adoration to play decently, then there's a lot of questions to be asked about the lot of them. However I have to admit from a fans perspective I prefer a decent atmosphere, than being able to hear someone coughing in the opposite stand and there's no doubt in my mind anyway that the atmosphere is better when the fanatics are around. I just object to (as I see it) the "bullying" of other fans out of their seats to accommodate the fanatics original demands. Yes it's the clubs prerogative to move fans if they want and yes the fans don't "own" their seats permanently, but it just doesn't sit well with me. I hope that they've come to a resolution that works for all and that some kind of unofficial tier system doesn't end up being in place, when it comes to asking for seats in certain areas.
The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots |

No my naïve little fellow poster I think that is you. Having lots of money, a soap box to speak publicly, being on the board and sitting in the corporate area in my opinion does not give someone more insight than any of the rest of us. Are you one of those idiots that think Chairman of the club = all seeing/all knowing God of all he surveys?

home advantage is still a thing in football. my hunch would be that vocal support contributes. people suggesting we're lousy at home of course cannot say how we might otherwise be. Nor can I. Which is why it's just my hunch. But results aside, several seasons of what we've had so far this season would be sooooo grim.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Opposition players like to quieten the home crowd. We now have given them a quiet crowd. That can only benefit them. So if results have been bad before, expect them to be worse now. And if anyone is happy with that, you're crazy.
Now here's Wright, his first chance to see what he can do, and he's through, it's Wright, ohhhh what an impact by the substitute. And it's Ian Wright who's sent the Palace fans into ecstasy! |

Great displays at the cup final and stamford bridge to be fair to them! yup, but like i said, theatrics aside, fan enjoyment aside, it doesn't really do much on the pitch.

Edited by Lyons550 (08 Oct 2018 9.42pm) He can’t prove it, because several professional footballers have actually directly contradicted his assumption - correctly called an assumption. Why would ex Palace player Alex McCarthy publicly state that Selhurst was an easier place to come to without the noise and atmosphere that the HF help to generate? What posisble reason would McCarthy have to lie about this topic? He is even ex palace. Easier place to come to = opposition players more comfortable = easier to play against us = they play better. I think Alex was saying it does have an impact on what happens on the pitch.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |
