I am sure that Wilf would wish for his price to be lowered to make a move easier but I doubt he is pleading.
If AWB's value is £45m plus add ons then Wilf is worth £80/90m and he will understand that.
I accept that AWB is young and there is potential but he is a full back as opposed to an attacking player and they are generally worth more.
Add to that - if Harry McGuire is worth £80/90m then Wilf is worth over £100m!
The longer we hold on with people paying silly prices for other players then we are in a position to demand a silly price for him.

Just heard from the daily bollocks that messi is begging Barca to let him join the palace on a free transfer. Crystal palace was the first words he spoke as a baby. Please barca let him go for nothing.

Your description of the paper involved with the "exclusive" with Wilf says it all..The Daily Fail.. do you really think that Wilf would be contacting CPFC and "begging" to be released whilst he's involved with playing for the Ivory Coast in the AFCON Cup of Nations.. think he might be otherwise occupied.. I feel this is more typical journo b*llsh*t..

The journo in question is, I believe, an Arsenal fan. His article is merely a wishlist and is utterly bereft of quotes. Arsenal can't even remotely afford it and Wilf has said that he wants Champions League football which he won't get there anyway.

And that flushes this bollocks straight down the drain, where it belongs.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

a) Arsenal don't have the money unless they sell. Anyone for Ozil?

b) Their defence has to be their priority. It sucks.

c) No Champions League football currently or for the forseeable future as Ozil downs tools, Ramsay is a distant memory and Aubameyang loses a step

d) Selling Wan-Bissaka and Zaha in one window would seriously jeopardize the team's chances of avoiding relegation and obviously rile the supporters big time

Other than that, Zaha to Arsenal ticks all the boxes

Maybe, just maybe it isn't about wages at all as you have so cynically suggested. Wilf has already stated on more than one occasion that he wants to test himself on the highest stage, which is European football.

I don't believe Arsenal could come close to what we would want but there are two things that give this story legs; one is the fact that it is widely known Wilf was an Arsenal fan as a boy, and two he stated in a recent interview he wanted to stay near his Dad since his stroke.

I love Wilf and desperately want to see him stay, but I am not as confident as some that we'll be able to keep him here. He's not going to want to keep reading about how he failed at United, especially now AWB has gone there.

Maybe, just maybe it's journo's and agents talk, Wilf hasn't put in a transfer request, has stated directly that he wants to play champions league, hasn't mentioned arsenal who couldn't give him it anyway. Maybe he wants to play champions league with crystal palace.

There's no way Wilf would've been 'begging' to be transferred to the Arse, and even more unlikely is the statement that he 'supported Arsenal as a boy'.
The fact is they can't afford him & we ain't letting him go there for less than megabucks. So this story is a no-no, made up by some mud-slinging saddo Arsenal-supporting journalist. Ignore.

If he goes in this window it doesn't show much ambition to the players already at the club does it?
Luka, Sako and the like will just want out as well!

If an acceptable bid comes in with champions league football then he’s off today or tomorrow, because he’ll want it and start demanding it if Parish doesn’t allow it. It’s really that simple. Until then, nothing.

arsenal can't afford him won't get nowhere near our asking price if AWB want for 50m than palace will want 80m upwards can't see both going and parish has said he won't sell both in the same transfer window

They might offer two instalments spread over this summer and jan or next summer, totalling 80 mil.

Anything is possible even though they can’t afford it all in one go
