The European Union has been blamed for many of the serious problems in British society, including the power of vacuum cleaners and the shape of bananas, and a new charge must now be added: football’s handball rule. The former Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway has bizarrely claimed that the EU is responsible for Gabriel Jesus’s late goal for Manchester City against Tottenham being disallowed.

Time we off loaded Scotland as well as the EU. The reason Scotland joined the union was they were bankrupt because they couldn't manage their economy and needed the English to bail them out. 300 years later and it seems they still have not learned that lesson. I would have thought that rule 1 for any independence party would be to show your voters that you can be trusted to run the country in a fiscally responsible manner. This is why the SNP wants to keep using the pound after independence it means that the BOE and the UK government would have to bail them out or risk crashing the UK economy. Or put it another way "darling I want a divorce but I still want access to your bank account and no you don't get a say in how I spend your money." Edited by Badger11 (21 Aug 2019 6.30pm)

I genuinely can't tell any more. Are these just utterly unhinged (possible ex-members of HOL), or are they really good parodies. Prep for the Brexit genocide, lads! [Tweet Link]

The former Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway has bizarrely claimed that the EU is responsible for Gabriel Jesus’s late goal for Manchester City against Tottenham being disallowed. I think the argument is missed here on both sides of the debate by most people. One of the biggest problems with the EU is that it has no defined scope or remit. The phrase "an ever closer union" doesn't actually mean anything. Therefore, like any badly run bureaucracy it's full of high paid people making laws and processes for the sake of it. A lot of the time they are pointless and expensive. The politicians and civil servants involved are the only people who really benefit, and they are unaccountable because no one ever bothers to turn up and vote in EU elections. I'm not fussed about the shape of bananas, but you have to question why a multi-national task force is required to determine the shape of them at great expense? Prior to the referendum, I argued that we should remain because we would only be replacing one bunch of b*stard politicians with another. What's changed is that the Brexit will cost the EU 12.5% of it's population and 15% of its GDP but has not considered that it may be require any reforms at all! What other business would that be allowed to happen in? Heads should be rolling, instead they are all protecting their own positions and trying to blame lies on buses or xenophobia, not due to house prices and competition for low income jobs.
