I agree, why spend so much on Henderson when our replacement for Zaha is Schlupp. No Zaha replacement and still no resolution to RB or LB cover, still only 2 recognised strikers. IMO the full back positions are crucial to us in terms of progressing to the next level. I am sorry to disappoint you, but we are at our ceiling level.

Seems a little narrow minded comparing Obrien with Holding. First off. Obrien has zero prem exp. Playing 2nd division football in Belgium is hardly a sign that he was ready to play for us in the prem. I hope he does well and forges a solid career for himself, but he’s done nothing to warrant a comparison with a player of Holdings exp. Secondly, I got the impression Obrien wanted first team football. He was offered a new deal. But then got sold…which suggests to me, that he wanted out. We couldn’t offer him the minutes he would have wanted and arguably needed. So sometimes fringe players have to move on in those circumstances. It’s a part of football. I would say that exp is a key commodity for central defenders.

Nobody is comparing Holding to O’Brien, we are looking at the fourth CB in the squad and wondering why we are spending limited funds on a bang average CB when we had an up and coming youngster in our ranks who has been highly rated by many posters on here. If Richards is moving on then fair enough but that is far from an agreed deal at present.

It’s also possible he plays right back in place of Ward. He wants more minutes. You don’t leave Arsenal as what, 5th choice, just to come to palace and get a bump to 4th. Not in my opinion anyway.

My brother also noted to me he is considered to also play at RB which was news to me. If Richards is still here there’s a chance he won’t be fit. If either of our first two choices get injured I’d rather see Holding stepping in then Tommo. Again, for less than £5mil, it’s got to be considered a good deal to bolster the squad.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Crystal Palace: Eagles could sign Edouard 2.0 with late £34m move Football Fancast sum up everything I would fear about signing Hugo Ekitike. Hopefully that price should rule it out! Edited by Charles (01 Sep 2023 10.47pm)

Yawn. Try using your own eyes and come to your own opinion rather than peddling the old, “I’m sure Dougie blah blahs opinion” time and time again. Speak to any Arsenal fan who had to watch him week in and week out and they will tell you that he is a liability at this level. Wasn’t it the Palace scouting team that turned down Van Dijk stating he was too slow for top level football. They don’t always get it right. A player who has played about 100 times for a top 6 team, only 27 for £4m is good value by Premier standards.
