This on the BBC: Everton are determined not to rush any appointment and while Nuno remains a strong contender after talks that started shortly after Ancelotti's departure for Real Madrid, the club are determined to cast their net wide before making a final choice. Interesting that Everton are considered to be 'not rushing' and 'casting their net wide' etc, whereas listening to some on here we are all at sea, dithering and making a terrible hash of it. The difference is that Ancelotti did an Allardyce and left suddenly with no notice whereas it seems that Parish and Hodgson had decided months ago that he would be leaving at the end of his contract

Plus, as per my original post, Spurs have had even longer than us. Taking your time to get it right is not unique to Palace.

I'm sure the £4.5m pa that Roy earned will help ease the pain and I also recall our best player looking like he's leaving for the last 8 or 9 transfer windows. It really isn't the worst job on this planet. Can't help thinking that the likes of Lampard would reassure all in the changing room with little doubt that the likes of Zaha would work very productively with such a Manager and arguably move his game on further still. New lease of life in charge; influence to bring in different class of players; fresh strategic approaches born from winning expertise etc.

Make of this what you will, may be nothing... My dad is a cabbie (sadly a clowns fan) but anyway, he has just informed me that he had Steve Cooper in his cab today, picked him up from The Ivy. My dad asked him if he was going to be the next Palace manager, to which Steve Cooper gave what my dad described as a 'wry smile', but obviously gave no verbal response. Like I said, could be nothing, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. FWIW, I hope it's not going to be him!

Favre is definitely a class above anyone who’s been mentioned so far. I would be very happy with this.

The key point is that neither have released half of their first team squad,,they can afford to take their time. We on the other hand certainly cannot….players will not hang about waiting on us to dither.

Favre seems to be closer to the style we're after - sets teams up well, looks to bring through youth etc. What I don't like about the Cooper idea is the board clearly aren't convinced. If they were, he'd be here by now. If he comes in, it's a reluctant hire. So reluctant that they'd prefer to run the risk on losing Townsend, Ward etc. by delaying their decision.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
