The statements that Pulls and Allardyce would not have played AWB or Mitchell, and that Hodgson is a superior manager to both are opinions, not facts.
To my mind the greatest achievement in keeping us up was the one engineered by Pulis with essentially a Championship squad.
But that is an opinion and not a fact.
And possibly not a popular opinion because of the way he left and the perception that he is not a gentleman.

It's blatantly obvious that Pulis's achievement is greater than Hodgson's - he didn't have Wilf, and it has been acknowledged on here that without him we'd be toast, an opinion backed up by stats - when Wilf doesn't play we do less well.
I think Hodgson did exceptionally well in his first season, and credit where credit is due, has kept us up on a budget. That said I think the club in its current guise has run its course, and change is upon us, unless of course Parish is satisfied with diminishing returns - 11th / 12th / 14th - and this season?
I guess it depends on what results Hodgson grinds out for the rest of the season and what Parish has in mind for next season.

The heavy spending during 2016-17 under Pardew and Allardyce, and age of the players signed, is pretty much the reason why we find ourselves in the position we are now IMO.

Whilst I felt he did well at the time, I think the job Allardyce did is massively overstated by some now.

Roy out. It’s time. Forget all the arguments either way, now or the end of this season is the time for change.
I don’t really care whether we are comfortable or struggling, it’s still time for the old boy to depart.

This is a premier league club that needs to move forward to the next era and that requires a new manager and we need it now.

I think Roy will stay until the Yanks sell up. He's proven that he can keep us up on a shoestring budget - even if the football is turgid.

Until the yanks sell we're in limbo - there will be no investment and we'll limp along until they sell or we get relegated.

Amen.

Selective memory of the home thumping by Sunderland and the never explained manner of his departure.

And let's not forget all the credit he got for the best transfer window that the club had done full due diligence on for months before fatty was even considered for the post

I doubt there is anyone who thinks Roy should be in charge next season. He should see out this season and there should be a process already in place for a successor. I hope its not one of the usual suspects - Moyes, Howe, Dyche and definitely not serial loser Silva. But Roy has done a great job overall and should be thanked. Its just time to go at the end of the season.
And I will take the 3 points today.

No, it's not obvious. Pulis did it for less than a season. Not three seasons. He also didn't want to have Wilf Zaha back. You are blatantly twisting truth.

Moyes and Howe not good enough?

Pep isn't available, but Zidane may well be in the summer!

Like Charlton? Or Bolton maybe? Or how about Pompey? That kind of change?

Apart from his first game, the 1-1 draw away to Watford on Boxing Day, which we would have won were it not for Benteke's horrible penalty miss, I remember being shocked by the lack of improvement when he came in.

I think Hodgson should stay until such time as evidently better manager is available to us. That's how it should work surely?

Perhaps we should give Roy a five year deal after all for fear of losing him -
if the only alternative is to become like Bolton, Charlton or Portsmouth.
Quite a big if though.
