Shame you're not a fan of libertarian views Hrolf!

I tend to agree but I wonder if Gary’s problem was relating his comments to the Nazi period. If he’d just said he didn’t agree with what the Government were proposing without reference to anything in history, perhaps the issue would never have arisen. Likewise, Clarkson got pilloried for his comments, so what’s the difference and are they being treated equally?

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

As a personal protest I will not watch MOTD tomorrow evening, that will really shake the BBC.

Unless Palace beat Man City of course.

Looks like I had better find something else to do.

I'm getting blind drunk and watching the rugby. No doubt, I'll see the Palace score at some stage.

Shearer pulled out as well.

Gary Lineker has made the wrong analogy to Germany in the 1930's.

But we must not censor people in this way, it is shameful of the BBC.

If anything, they are making his case.

As the BBC is impartial ( ha ha) they cannot be seen to be allowing an employee to be so politically biased

And yet this was fine?

If Lineker had said he dreamt of seeing Braverman made to parade naked through the streets to shouts of ‘shame!’ then they could be seen as equivalent comments.

Clarkson is a good example though - I think he had a weekly newspaper column whilst he was hosting Top Gear - no issues with anything he ever said. Amazing.

I cannot abide Sugar, but no mention of Nazis, Linekar has had several warnings.

That’s moving the goalposts - you said “ As the BBC is impartial ( ha ha) they cannot be seen to be allowing an employee to be so politically biased”

I’m providing a clear example of an employee doing exactly that (of which there are many) and now it’s not about being politically biased, just that they have to mention Nazis?

Has Clarkson not lost his TV shows? Another person I cannot stand but he did apologise. Linekar has not had the decency to do this, the mention of Nazis leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. My Grandfathers family were Jewish, I will say no more

Not really Linekar has had several warnings. If your boss gave you several warnings would you comply or carry on regardless?

Fantastic news! The first time I will watch MOTD in years! I notice everyone is branding around the phrase "free speech" and censorship!

Double standards! There were plenty of pundits fired for their "free speech" last year!

What is kind of weird is putting the plight of total strangers from foreign countries over that of our children and grandchildren. Those strangers come here to work in menial jobs for cash and pay no tax if you are lucky, or very likely work for criminal gangs selling drugs, stealing and pimping.

Pointy.

Beard.

If I was subjected to different rules than other employees of my company, I would absolutely continue/object.
