I think we need Brewster. Particularly with it looking like Wilf won’t be here forever and Batshuayi is only a loan. Wickham is crook and Benteke is 30 even if he does regain form. But I’m struggling to see Benrahma making sense. Eze, Townsend, Schlupp and Ayew are all wide options not to mention Wilf. agree with most of what you say - except referencing CB’s age as a reason to get rid. It’s the fact that he doesn’t score goals that’s the reason we should offload him (and his wages).

Yet again, why the delay? I must say we do seem to dither about. We either want them or we don’t, I know many scenarios may exist which delay matters but we seem particularly slow at concluding deals

It’s just one of those things. That’s true. I had a look at a couple of Man U forums (pure schadenfreude but always fun when we beat the big boys) and their fans are raging about the players, particularly Lindelof, Maguire and Pogba who cost a combined £200 m. Since Ferguson left they’ve spent a combined total of £800 m and are very far from happy with the results.

I seem to remember regularly with a new player the 2nd season was always better -especially if they have to adjust culturally too.

Lawyers, accountants, agents and egos. The perfect storm Often the selling club has to get a replacement lined up so there's a chain No idea if other teams are faster but it looks like we are better than we used to be. Many of the clubs where purchases don't seem to work out have a disconnect between the manager and the person doing the recruitment. I can't imagine for one minute that Ferguson would have allowed the club to buy players that he didn't want and Newcastle is another club where the chairman's buddy buys the players whether Steve Bruce wants them or not. I'm not sure how much of an input Roy Hodgson has in recruitment and I would suggest that it is less than it should be which is why some purchases / loans never even make it to the bench

Alan Smith always said that it took 11 games for a player to be totally confident with the rest of the team, and over the years I watched, it seems to be pretty much spot on.

Players are not given enough of a chance and are written off too easily. Some will naturally fit in easily, and hence quicker, but some will not.
