While I respect your opinion (everyone's if there's any common sense in it) that's all it is, an opinion. Just like mine. You can't honestly believe that Selhurst Park has ever had a singing section that rivaled bigger clubs. In these days of prawn sandwiches, tourists and all seaters, the HF seem outstanding. Historically, compared to other big clubs they are still pretty modest but they give the ground a reputation that, no doubt, has a psychological effect on the opposition.

I'm currently conducting an experiment to test the theory that The Holmesdale Fanatics improve the atmosphere. In a separate test, I will be trying t establish the link between Fanatics and home wins. The first study defines 'atmosphere' not just by noise, but by happiness, which I benchmark by the presence of Endorphins and serotonin in the blood stream. This is proving a challenge, as Palace fans seem reluctant to give a blood sample. As if that wasn't bad enough, the company that supplies the time machine has let me down. That means I can't travel into the future to benchmark games when the HF have returned. In the meantime, I could make up the research (not an unknown phenomenon in my normal line of work) just by doing some word of mouth Vox Pops and then fabricating the questionnaire results. So here goes: Do the HF make you feel happier? Do Palace win more when the HF are banging the drum and singing their incomprehensible songs? Do you love the HF? Yes/No My vote is yes, so currently they are 100 per cent in the polls Originally posted by est1905

Spot on, without the fanatics we go back to booing when the team are playing poor and chanting stuff that was done in the 80's/90's.

I'd say that the effect on the opposition is more important. I'm sure they would rather play in front of a quiet home crowd.
