Second the management have not played to his strength's , he does more work than people on here want to see , there view is he is on the pitch just to score goals that's it . He has had chances and missed so do lots of forwards with better supply to them .

Some right drama queens in here. Benteke new contract start move you get his basic wage down but offer bonuses to take it to the same or just above what he currently is on. You dont let a guy you paid 35m for just walk for free especially when you have no other strikers. The contract doesn't mean he will be staying it just means Palace will get some money for him if they sell. If this guy was used correctly i could see him scoring 10-12 a season no problem again. A lot people stating he doesn't do much well you are not watching the full games then maybe it's the camera feeds not showing much of him to you but he is clearly doing a lot of what Roy is asking for just look at a lot of defending he does every corner/freekick he does try to get in the box gets no service so no wonder he then doesn't really put effort in to try again. Why Roy wont allow direct balls or quick crossing is strange Wilf and Andros can do them it was proven when Big Sam was in charge they may not like it. 1. Proof cpfc is being run by bean counters without a care, including for us, and not football people. 2. Nobody is going to pay money for him. 3. He’s a fvcking forward paid to score goals. Defending corners is an extra. And where’s the cvnt when we break anyway? Behind 9 players that’s where. ‘He does try to get in the box.’ What, like all those balls through the corridor of uncertainty and he’s hiding or actually nowhere to be seen you mean! Dozens of these he could’ve picked up the 10-12 goals per season, instead it’s ONE per season. 4. I agree on the high ball eventually coming in too late though. Sometimes I get the feeling this is the Zaha and Townsend club. Townsend prefers the right and Zaha the left. These 2 should be ordered to change round for 30-40% of the match at least, preferably longer if it’s working.

We’re becoming a joke now.

If you watch the press conference with Roy yesterday, he is asked is he happy that Benteke is being offered a new contract. He gave the most diplomatic response ever which loosely translated to, I can't believe he's being offered a new contract, what kind of buffoons am I working for?

Well I'm sure he won't be at the club if we are playing in the Championship next season which with everything going on (or not going on) at the club seems an increasingly likely scenario.

Yep, the Americans and Parish will only react to revenue loss. If we accept it they’ll do it. The only way to get through to them is show them the financial and commercial loss it’ll cost.

Benteke could end up being our saviour. His goals may help us avoid relegation to League One next season.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

It’s so stupid. We’ll end up paying him the money we’re hoping to get it someone is stupid enough to pay for him, which they won’t be. Also telling that Benteke is considering the extension. Is nobody interested and therefore no big free agent signing on fee? I wonder why. This is so stupid I can’t understand it and will probably do me a favour in giving Selhurst a miss. I’ll come back after relegation, hopefully no Benteke, Parish running football or anything, or the Americans, in whichever order or combination. I accept the full football and Benteke here until contract expiry, but not extending it. We’re being insulted and taken for granted here and should make a stand because it’s going too far and more than likely will get worse.

I have never seen such strong feelings about renewing a player's contract in my time of supporting Palace.

at my optimistic best this means we get a sell-on fee when he leaves at the end of the season, at my pessimistic worst we're stuck with this fella for the next few years.

But if he’s likely to leave at the end of the season, he should refuse to extend. But why has there been no interest this summer? It’s nonsensical, if you look at it considering the football. If someone does buy him after another year it’ll cover his wages for that year so what’s the point of this. Just fvck off. This’ll becit for me. I’ll come back when something promising in a change at cpfc happens. Fvck this.
