But according to your oft repeated statement, the politicians are the very people who are elected to do what's best for the country - ergo if they want to leave (with or without) then that must be the better thing for the country than remaining as the 'experts' want. Surely that's the whole point of democracy, as you keep telling us - politicians doing what is right.

MP's are put there to serve the country by deciding what they believe to be in the country's best interests. If you believe that they don't do that and instead "forward their own agenda and interests" then the answer is in your own hands. Either vote them out at the next GE or, if their actions are really bad, organise a recall petition and a new election. You might disagree with the majority but that doesn't mean they haven't done what their conscience dictates they must do. Some know that as a consequence their livelihood is under threat and some are restrained in speaking their minds because of that threat.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |
