Managers going stale isn't a unique problem. Only 4 premiership managers have been in the job longer than Roy. They are Wilder, Dyche, Pep, and Klopp. All for have delivered a significant amount of success to their clubs since they started. Under Roy, we are stagnet, our league position and cup performance have declined. He's been lucky to have had the job for so long, had the board been a tad more ambitious he'd be gone by now. However, had the board been too ambitious we might have been in a situation like Watford so their is a balance. It does seem there is a split in Roy's supporters, between the more sensible ones realising he is a short term stop gap, to the more idiotic romantic ones gushing of Mr Cwoydon Hodgson believing that some how the geriatric owl is the man to create a dynasty. I'm quite sceptical of the run coming up, I think we've left it far too late and given him far too many chances. We'll play 4-4-2 against Wolves today for the 3rd time in a few months and lose again. Our only hope is to sucker punch them with an early goal or we are screwed. We all want investment, but it has to be careful and sustainable given our relative income. A 73 year old isn't the leader a business will invest in, especially given his poor recent performance in the league and on transfers. That's just the way investment works. But I've gone off on a rant again... all I meant to say that 3 and a half years is a very good innings for a premier league manager that hasn't had any major achievement. A number would argue, that keeping us in the Premier from nil points after 7 games is a fair achievement. He has precided over a squad that hasnt had any investment to speak of, it isnt our best ever squad, it was 3 years ago, but a number of players have declined with age and he kept us away from relegation.

Roy took over after 4 games. It's not in the same ball park as promotions and league titles. Roy has said this is his best ever squad. We've passed the cross roads and we are now accelerating away in the wrong direction. Very soon it could be too late to turn back.

Fair play to Roy he changed it round and they looked a lot more energised. Wolves were poor but you still have to get the job done and they did

Yes, Roy took over after 4 games, a side that had lost 8 of previous 9 games ( not a storming finish in my book), despite having £70m spent on it, in the previous January. 2 of his first games were M Utd and City away with expected results. Roy is going to say any squad is his best squad, he knows how to play the media.

If you are a Palace fan who wants Roy out, you're either spoilt or simply haven't supported the club for very long. It's an absurdity to call for his head regardless of how frustrating Palace can be at times. Roy remains the only manager we've had since we were promoted who hasn't had us in any real danger of relegation at any point and we are not going to go down under him. He's also worked on peanuts. Roy's job of stabilising the club is setting a foundation for the long term & the work he has done will eventually prove invaluable. Watching morons plaster social media calling for his head to be replaced with Frank Lampard of all people proves that this "best fans in the country" label is largely nonsense. We are on the brink of a decade as an established & well respected Premier League club - I'm not sure people fully appreciate how significant that is or the role Roy Hodgson has played in it.
