Few points. Nimbyism around CPP will stop anything happening there. Not just us but any form of development. Could screens be mounted on the back of the gantry in the Arthur Wait for now? If we relocate, will we end up owing Lloyd's loads of money? Relocation to the Whitgift Centre for a mixed use development is a good idea. I think there would be appetite for a Rugby Union team in south london, but uncertainty around the wage cap, premiership ring fencing, and cuts to the championship would prevent this. Redevelopment of the whitgift centre will take 10 years with Croydon Council. The council have shown by not moving fast enough and being too greedy with Westfield that the town has now lost out. Same is likely to happen with the ground. Not sure what planning regime we are following, but they are likely to be asking the club to sort out all there issues.

The wage cap is exactly why union would be a great thing for Palace to get into. We could be in the game paying top end (for rugby) wages, establishing ourselves while the rfu realizes the cap is insane. by which time, we could be fully up and running. some of the local rugby talent is outstanding, too.

As a kid in the 90's I always liked the idea of it happening in the location where Ikea is, imagine the towers being red and blue... would have been cool. I was just a kid, mind.
This was once a quality forum.... |
