No doubt that is what the Romans said when the Goths and Vandals came knocking. A history of success is not a guarantee of future success

Any good shows on Al Jazeera last night I wonder?

Laugh it up loser, we are leaving. For sure. I was almost convinced last week that it is now almost certain to be no deal but reading around a lot of chat is that for all his positive bluster it is, essentially, the emperors new clothes I did enjoy the news about the massive countdown clock though. “At some point his government is going to have to stop promising stuff and actually start doing stuff. How many times can he talk about ‘free ports’ before someone asks what exactly he means and what he’s actually planning to do about it? He’s managed to promise a brand new immigration system to the surprise of the Home Office, who are currently two years into delivering a different brand new immigration system and still waiting for him to get round to appointing an immigration minister.” Classic.

I hasten to add....that my specific response to Steely was much more childish 'knockabout'...You see, I have to speak to him in the style to which he is accustomed. There's no real aggression or massive conviction in it.....Indeed, Steely's quite amusing. No one really knows how it's going to go, however, I'm for leaving....so if it goes t1ts up I'll take the criticism.....and no doubt at some stage we will have another vote.....However, if it isn't anywhere near as bad....all the remainers on this forum won't be seen for dust. As you'd expect. I expect the governmental response to leaving will be just as incompetent as the general governmental response to anything.

Some honesty about why this 'Backstop' is nothing more than a trap to keep us as a captive market for EU goods... To be fair to the fella, kudos for the honesty. I love the bit about how the UK must not be allowed to make its own trade deals. Sums up why leaving the EU and doing so without a 'deal' is the only option.

They decided to fall in as part of the 27 and go along with the strategy that led us here....so let Germany and France compensate them. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Aug 2019 4.11pm)

I'm not even sure it'll happen by 31st October, but definitely think that by the end of the year we'll have either a no deal exit or a deal, possibly after a GE. I can't mentally comprehend yet another extension after this three year merry-go-round and change of leader.
