Still no interest or offers. Even the tacky media outlets have given up peddling made up stories. His wages and fee restricts the number of clubs that could afford him, very few European teams have that sort of budget. and i'd argue the closer we get to Selling AWB the more important it is we don't lose Wilf, so his price will only rise!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle Wilf is a victim of his own success...in the current crazy transfer market and with the length of contract he has left there are only a handful of clubs in Europe who can afford him. Can't see him going anywhere anytime soon with the value SP (quite rightly) puts on his head. Wilf is irreplaceable to us no matter how much is offered for him..that's the bigger problem cos we will lose him eventually.

I have never seen a Palace player beats players (plural) the way he does and his finishing and passing has gone up and up this last couple of seasons too. Sometimes what he does is unbelievable. I don't want to lose AWB but if we lose Zaha it is going to require some excellent scouting and negotiating if we are even to match last season's position. I'm not really that convinced we have that in place.

Fact is he's 26 now and getting to the age where buying clubs will lose interest. One, it's harder to develop a player any more once they get to a certain age and two, a three or four year contract takes him into his thirties where his sell-on value will be severely diminished. If he doesn't go now, he's running out of chances. That's fine as far as I'm concerned but I suspect he knows that and it's the reason he's made the noises he has about wanting to play at the top level, etc. Originally posted by PJH

Look at Ronaldo's fee and Hazard (who remember only had one year left on his contract), while Neymar moved for £200m last year when he was around Wilf's age and could move for a huge fee again this summer. If Arsenal, for example, believed Wilf was the difference between getting Champions League or Europa League football then they may see the investment as worthwhile. Wilf takes care of himself and recovers quickly from knocks, so he could potentially have another 6 or 7 years at the top flight left in him.

That said, there's a lot of time between now and the end of the window...

Wilf would be up for it. He's an Arsenal fan I think quotes from Zaha relating to wanting to be near to his dad following his stroke suggest if he leaves it won't be outside of London. If Spurs or Arsenal (or even Chelsea if their ban is lifted) were to offer a fee that suited Parish and the board then I have no doubt Wilf would want to go and you couldn't blame him. Like most people though I'm just not convinced anyone will offer the money we would want and fortunately Wilf is being very respectful to the club and the fans by not pushing. If we sold him for 55m I would happily join the torch-bearing throng (led by Susanna Reid) that would roll Parish's Bentley into the Thames.
