There is little point in keeping CPP as it is when it is just full of dog s*** and used syringes. Who wants that?
Its obvious the local residents don't want a football club but if first plans are simply put in place to just do SOMETHING with the site then maybe the local football club moving there would be less terrifying to them if they also knew that the entire infrastructure of the area would improve, house prices would go up, all the latest available sound proofing from the stadium on matchdays to be installed to protect residents peace, park and ride systems put in place. A ban on a certain number of cars in the area on match days.
To me all this sounds attractive if I lived up there but sadly there seems to be so much opposition from so many different people. Will never happen I know.

He would only do stuff that is going to benefit him politically.
Amongst his first actions of Mayoral office were to scrap the Crystal Palace Park tramlink to Croydon and to scrap the extension of the Congestion Charge to the Chelsea area.

Palace's cash turnover is healthy enough, but we don't have spare cash to spunk on a stadium project. Once the Yanks got cold feet, that effectively pulled-the-plug

I've given up caring about any stadium plans.
By the time Parish starts building the new stand, or finds a site to build a completely new ground, I shall probably have died of old age.
But it is sad to see the decrepit old Crystal Palace athletics stadium slowly rotting away, what a missed opportunity by Bromley council to regenerate the whole area, and it would have been great to see the Palace going home.

I agree, anywhere near the Purley Way as has been suggested would be a disaster with the already rammed road network in that area. The old athletics stadium would be a great location to build, is close to the existing stadium and would be a fantastic boost to the economy in the area. We could then sell part of SP off to Tesco. That’ll piss off Sainsburys. The only issue I see is that we would probably never own the land so we would have to persuade the Council to grant a long leasehold interest, say 999 years

My hunch !! Is that Steve parish hopes Sainsbury's close store as like most other stores are cutting back ,and if that is the case might pay off as could develop Whitehourse at same time .

Good they can transfer the staff to the Beckenham store I'm sure the locals would appreciate that.

A slightly provocative point. But if Sainsburys only own a bit of the car park, then Palace own the rest of it ?
If Palace own the bulk of the car park, could they not close it to Sainsburys customers ?

Just thinking out loud,....

Sainsbury's own the WHOLE car park; why did you think otherwise?

i thought so. It was only because Sainsburys wouldn't sell Palace a 'bit' of the car park.
i get easily confused over the tedium of prolonged threads

Sainbury's have agreed to sell back the part of the car park that we sold to them; it's just that Parish doesn't like the price. The same as he doesn't like the infrastructure changes we need to contribute to, to increase the stadium capacity, or the requirement to replace the houses to be demolished with like-for-like. With Parish it's always someone else's fault that he can't progress his gothic plans. In the final analysis it was all smoke and mirrors...

This post has been merged from a topic called 'TV screens at Selhurst' by bexleydave

With only one screen at Selhurst there are many compromised fans who cant see vital info like replays and the clock.
If you are more than halfway up most of the Arthur, the White horse etc.
Surely Palace can afford to plonk a couple more up.
.....and get rid of that bloody walkway for Sky in the Arthur, paint it white and modernise it.

Apologies...there must be a more recent thread dedicated to the stadium but I can't find it. I tried.

What about our Yankee investors get some major spend going on that site in Croydon opposite where the Vue cinema is...have a retractable 4g pitch, create an American football team, a rugby league team, and a rugby union team. And, of course, Palace.

The proposed Westfield development there just fell through.

Could be a magnet for thousands to go to to Croydon each weekend, have some good retail alongside.

Bishbashbosh
