I'm going to do something unusual here and refer to a post on this thread by wisbech and another by hrolf. Not an easy thing to do to make one point! Wisbech said that the restrictions you refer to are actually part of a world wide trend, something populism is pushing back on. Hrolf mentioned the fact that the conservatives have been in power for a decade. Yet they have done nothing to check the trend. In fact listening to R4 the oppression of inclusivity has got worse if anything under the Tories. Thus to say this is a product of the left doesn't tally. Seriously? That's what you think? So, when the communists tried to introduce the concept of 'hate speech' or restricted speech at the UN after the war (which the allies rejected)....that was just some partisan thought process. So when Blair first introduced hate speech laws (which the Tories opposed).....that was just some circumstance. So when all the big Tech industries, which just so happen to be far left, operate a restricted speech policy weighted against conservatives.....that's just happenstance? When you look at the people who actually oppose restrictions on free speech it's mainly centralists and conservatives (not the party) (I will recognise those few on the left who do support it though....but there aren't many from what I can tell) As for the so called Conservatives, they don't have a socially conservative policy within their own manifesto and since Cameron have completely agreed with progressive polices. I regard them as an embarrassment to real conservatism......I'd imagine Thatcher would too. What they use to call 'loopy' now forms part of their polices.....forgive me if I don't regard the conservatives as anything more than a party of careerists....There are good people within their grass roots (Willo) but they aren't members of a party that 'conserves' anything anymore other than house prices and don't really deserve to call themselves conservatives. Conservatives wouldn't have allowed Churchill's statue or the Cenotaph to be defaced. The real conservatives went down there to defend those monuments and were called racist by Johnson.

Isn’t this thread supposed to be about the election? How long can trump keep his strategic play going. I wonder. Does anyone care anymore? It already feels like the US media are moving on, leaving him to stamp his feet and faux rage tweet alone, as the size and credibility of his ‘legal action’ dwindles by the hour. Still no evidence, compelling or even circumstantial. Tick tock.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Convincing those who would follow him off a cliff that the election was 'stolen', combined with disinterest to such plots anyway doesn't bode well. Even outside of that, in the middle of a global pandemic, hindering the transition is childish beyond words and will cost lives.

I'm quite interested to see what comes out of these lawsuits. As for complaining about Trump not conceding.......People just have to accept that there are two Americas now and have been since even before Trump. Just as the Democratic states didn't work with or listen to Trump I'm not expecting that standard to change with republicans if Trump leaves. The Democrats didn't win both houses so Biden is going to be gridlocked on anything major and it's going to be culture war all the way to 22. This is a slow bleed and then some....and regardless what name people give to it there's going to be conflict as there are two diametrically opposed ideologies who detest each other.

It's a very blunt completely transparent attempt by a multi-national company to appear caring and in touch with the communities the operate in. When in reality they are souly motivated by the bottom line. If anything, it's a pretty lazy advert by the marketing team and disrespectful of the views intelligence (however small that may be). When planning their stores, Sainsbury's employ psychologists to work out how to extract the maximum amount of cash from their customer. Adverts are just an extention of that. It's clear they are just exploiting recent issues to try and manipulate the viewer further. When people discover they are bing manipulated so blatantly there's always going to be an angry reaction.

Trump's 2020 chances '100 percent dead' after 4 swing state lawsuits are dropped [Link] "Nine cases aimed at overturning Biden's win were also dropped on Friday. The Trump campaign lost several suits in Pennsylvania that day as well." Georgia’s secretary of state says fellow Republicans are pressuring him to find ways to exclude legal ballots - [Link] "Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said Monday that he has come under increasing pressure in recent days from fellow Republicans, including Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), to question the validity of legally cast absentee ballots in an effort to reverse President Trump’s narrow loss in the state. The atmosphere has grown so contentious, Raffensperger said, that both he and his wife, Tricia, have received death threats in recent days” "The normally mild-mannered Raffensperger saved his harshest language for Rep. Douglas A. Collins (R-Ga.), who is leading the president’s efforts in Georgia and whom Raffensperger called a “liar” and a “charlatan.”"

From what I'm hearing the republicans are still collecting and organizing evidence and they say their push is yet to really start and they think they have a path. Personally I think that's going to be difficult and unlikely but I guess we will soon find out. It'll be interesting, as US politics always is.

I have a very tiny hunch that your sources may turn out to be absolute whoppers. We will soon find out.
