I gather from your user name you sit in the Arthur therefore get to experience the atmosphere without having to be amongst them. This is the difference Fair point, but actually I stand in the AW and am surrounded by singers. No flags or drums, granted, but it gets pretty boisterous - or at least it did till the atmosphere took a dip.

You're more than 10 years out of date. Stewards don't bother anymore, and legislation is powerless. Safe standing will be legal in the Prem by December, Spurs have already put it in I strongly doubt that but time will tell I guess

This is a fair point. I as well as many others remember times at Palace before the HF when the atmosphere was every bit as good. Sometimes better. And you could argue the singers were even more committed as it was through darke periods of relegations, administrations, mainly second tier football where the stadium was half full or less. Rarely if ever have the HF had to whip up an atmosphere in those circumstances.

It just was never a patch on the HF. Songs didn't last as long. They weren't as constant. Sure, we had a few immense times at really big games. But not the constant singing even during the dour times that we get from the HF. Rose tinted memory methinks.

TheUltras are the modern day equivalent of the old hardcore brigade that stood in the middle of the homesdale before it was covered.

What about an old fashioned compromise? The HF can come back but only if they promise to adopt an open policy on chants. And stop bullying people (as some have alleged)

And stop bullying people (as some have alleged) I very much like that suggestion. There has been give and take with the HF and the club. How about some much needed give and take with fellow Palace fans? Who lets face it, outnumber them 260 to one!

I'd tend to turn that on its head and suggest you are magnifying the impact of HF in your own head and blowing it out of proportion.

However, it is now clear from those at the top, the management, the players and a HUGE section of fans that the HF are wanted and needed. to all the Nigel’s!!!!
