As for a polemic, I'll save that for the inner circle. I'm going to do something unusual here and refer to a post on this thread by wisbech and another by hrolf. Not an easy thing to do to make one point! Wisbech said that the restrictions you refer to are actually part of a world wide trend, something populism is pushing back on. Hrolf mentioned the fact that the conservatives have been in power for a decade. Yet they have done nothing to check the trend. In fact listening to R4 the oppression of inclusivity has got worse if anything under the Tories. Thus to say this is a product of the left doesn't tally.

One of the few sane rational adults left on here these days by the time you wade your way through some of the utter nonsense spouted on here.

So are you suggesting that the government should control the media? Are you suggesting that elected politicians really have control over elite globalists?

What sort of idiotic logic is that? We live in a country where around 5% of the population are Black at last count. Do you think it's unreasonable to expect to see a similar level of Black people on TV? I appreciate that there is a need to be inclusive in the interests of profit but the representation of non Whites goes well beyond that. This is about appearing to be 'woke' and 'right on'. This is in the same bracket as claiming to be 'green' or charitable to sell more stuff. So tell me. Why shouldn't people be allowed to express their disapproval without being branded as racists by twerps like you? Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (16 Nov 2020 9.21pm)

Whey shouldn't people be allowed to express their disapproval without being branded as racists by twerps like you? Look at the replies to the tweet and tell me there’s not some out and out old fashioned racism there. It’s also one of three Christmas adverts they’ve done. And it’s a bloody advert for God’s sake.

There are always idiotic comments on virtually every topic. Some will be racist nastiness probably sent by school age dumbos or those with the same mental age. However, that does not alter the fact that people have every right to complain about the blatant misrepresentation of current reality.

Imagine being arsed by the colour of someone’s skin in an advert in the first place.

I don't really see that dying to be honest, maybe I am just cynical. Does of course live on though you can't dispute that. The fact they've done three adverts is the point though, I lean firmly to the right of centre but I actually quite like the idea. I think it's the fact they released it first however which prompted a reaction mostly boiled up from the absolute torrent of uncomfortably bad and obvious attempts of corporations to convince the population that the UK demographic is far different to the one they experience, or in fact know it to be.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
