The only club I can see trying to buy Wilf is Everton. And they already bought £30m of linear depreciation.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

I doubt we have that much to spend. The Benhrama fee is probably going to be subsidised by the £11 mill we are reportedly getting for Sorloth and Brewster may be a loan with an option to buy. FFP rules suspended and knowledge that the current dads army will be relegated in the very year when losing the prem money could spell catastrophe for a club like ours? Just a guess but there may have been a board meeting where the club realised they had but one option - spend regardless of whether we have the money. Debt preferred to extinction and for once prudence goes out the window.

Guys Palace always had a budget for this window as have had limited spend in the last few windows: Budget £35m Total £46m Bought Total £22m Leaves £24m Still some possible outgoings that could generate a further £20m Total left £44m Benrahma £20m plus add-ons Total £42.5m So there you can see how these deals would work. Brewster could also be a loan but think we will push for permanent deal. Also you need to be aware that if you sign a player for 20m on a 5 year contract then for accounting purposes this would be £4m every year that’s how clubs operate their transfer budgets to stretch it further.

On the subject of finances, I think we have more to spend than most think we do. I expect we've had reduced budgets for the last few windows due to outstanding payments & ring fencing money for projects such as the academy (as well as the Yanks taking some last year). The Benteke & Sakho payments also hamstrung us for a while as we needed to be careful not to fall foul of FFP. Now those things are done, we can spend more cash. Budgets will also be set according to future payments out, i.e. we have money to spend, but don't have room on the wages bill forecasts. With the knowledge that some big wages will be off the books in a year (if not sooner) the cash can be used. Oddly, I think the club have planned this very well. Benrahma would be exciting; Sarr better still – don't think we need both. Brewster would be a good addition. I think Downes is a must, but a young CB who can play 10 games/sub appearances, rather than disappear to the under-23's, is a necessity. That is unless the club think Woods, Tavares or similar are ready to step into that position. Sorry for the essay. Also, if anyone bumps into Eze can you tell him I'm getting married next March and I'll gladly tell my Best Man to piss off if Ebre is keen for the position. I'll sort the suit if he brings the cigars.

Yeah, this. Also, thanks for the updates Dazza. Don't really care if you're properly IKT or not – whenever I see you've posted I get a special tingle, and that'll do me nicely.

That is only for the purposes of the profit & loss account which is less important this year as FFP has been suspended. For the purposes of cash flow a spend of £20m is just that although one can often negotiate payments over a period

Wilfs options seem to be getting smaller .Really can't see where he would go now .Thought he might be part Brewster deal but that's not happening now as Liverpool have splashed out .Think he will be with us another season at least.
