I would have thought that given the fact that the Brentford game is only couple days away any change at the helm would probably take place afterwards where even though we have a cup game on the 4th Jan our next league fixture isnt until the 20th -

I am of the opinion that a draw against a Brentford team out of form and now without Mbeumo will not be enough to placate our supporters who have been starved of home wins.

A defeat and Mr Hodgson and the Board will face shot and shell with the atmosphere leading up to the final whistle becoming toxic.

PS : Since posting the above, I have had messages which basically were asking "Will Mr Hodgson still be in situ for the Brentford game ?"

Ben Mee also suspended for our game.

Thank you.
I recall him receiving a 'Red' against A.Villa.
I don't believe Mee has been a regular his season.

A significant loss for Brentford is Bryan Mbeumo who will be available for about 3 months.Of course they will also be without Ivan Toney and Rico Henry.Brentford have lost 6 of their last 7 matches.

Definitely comes under the category of must win, lose this one and panic really will be setting in.

Last night really was a missed opportunity. That was a very average Chelsea team.

Overall I thought a defeat was harsh. And the fact that Eze got it all wrong when we outnumbered Chelsea on the break only to then concede a stupid penalty moments later show what thin dividing lines there can be.

I had a rather heated discussion on the way home with one of my mates about the use or not of subs. Personally I thought the pace of the game would make it difficult for Hughes or Ridewald to get into it. The introduction of Schlupp made sense at 1-1 and I think at that stage we were fair set for a point.

This is a test of nerve now for Parish. On the evidence of recent performances, Roy still has the support of the players. But I think anything less than a win on Saturday will spell the end.

He is when fit or not suspended.

I didn't see any of last night, but for a moment I thought you must be talking about the previous game, when Eze messed up our only good attack and shortly afterwards made the error that led to the Brighton goal.

Brentford 30 Dec
Arsenal 20 Jan
Sheff Utd 30 Jan
Brighton 3 Feb

One would have thought that board must have gathered to discuss the state of affairs and their investment.

One can assume that they either believe RH is the man to continue with the good work he is doing and everything will be fine,

or,

They are alarmed at our position and discuss ways to improve it, including appointing a new manager and spending on or loaning extra players in the January window.

Looking at the upcoming set of fixtures above, the period after the Brentford game would be a good moment to enact the plan. Certainly a loss in that game would mean the end for RH? With him still at the helm I can't see us getting anything from Arsenal, the Sheff Utd game has banana skin written all over it, and Brighton away? A loss.

I don't think in the past 11 seasons we have looked so clueless with a manager that unfortunately is the cause of it. One is reminded of Iceland, when after their second goal on the 18 minute mark RH failed in the next 70 odd minutes to make any kind of meaningful impact on the game. It's the same scenario now.

poxy VAR again, after we broke to me it looked like the players knew it would get called back eventually, clear and obvious error my arse!

I do wonder what the VAR bloke said to the ref to convince him that he made such a blatant and “obvious “ error on an incident that he clearly saw at the time! If it was indeed a penalty and the referee is incapable of making the correct decision then in my opinion he’s not fit for purpose!!!

Well, he did it again last night.

At 1-1 we caught Chelsea on a quick counter. Eze had options but chose not to use them and Chelsea were able to re-group. Shortly after came the penalty.

Ebs doesn’t look ‘ at it ‘ since the Luton injury.

I thought we looked excellent last night and are well placed for a relegation scrap. Bring it on.

If I was hyper critical I thought Henderson looked tiny in goal when the the penalty was taken and even if he had saved it there would have been a re-take as he was miles off his line before the ball was struck. You just can’t do that against the big teams away from home as you’ll get pinged. Ok…he didn’t save it so it wasn’t an issue but I hope the keeper coaches still look at stuff like that as well as his stature and presence in goal.

Henderson stands 6ft 2in tall so cannot be described as "Tiny".

He should’ve played Ayew in twice when well placed but greedily took shots instead that were blocked by defenders standing right in front of him.
