Some rumblings about Textor's dealings with Lyon. I could easily see that blowing up in our faces.

I suspect he is over extended.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Franca is not a typical Palace signing. But I trust Dougie Freedman to recommend what for Palace is a significant spend, over your opinion.

Palace are working to a budget in the same way that you allude to when it comes to household expenditure. The next step is to prioritise your spend. And that's where you differ from the clubs way of thinking. Clearly they believe that the right back position does not urgently require a major spend. You do. Let's see shall we.

Fair enough but why is it that the vast majority of Palace fans see the full back positions as weaknesses in the side and the management don’t. What’s your own opinion on utilising old and slow right backs against the PL’s best wingers?

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to say, do you think Franca is a Dougie signing or an enforced Textor signing. Might sound a bit dramatic but there were rumours he had a lot to do with it.

Just my view, but as I said, it’s a question of priorities. I would be surprised if the powers that be don’t recognise our limitations at right back . But I think they also believe that between Ward and Clyne they can do a good enough job that allows the Club to focus on other positions.

As for Franca, my understanding was that DF watched him on a number of occasions. It’s possible that Textor recommended the player but I don’t believe he is in a position to dictate who the Club sign. Chelsea were also looking at Franca but presumably he was too cheap for them !

That's the problem. People with Stockholm syndrome form a psychological connection with their captors and begin sympathizing with them. In addition to the original kidnapper-hostage situation, Stockholm syndrome now includes other types of trauma in which there's a bond between the abuser and the person being abused.

It’s only a problem for you, not for me

Very strange, not sure what that has to do with the price of fish?

I have plenty of gripes over transfers of course I do, no fan will ever get all they want. What I do believe however is that on our logically limited budget they prioritise incomings based on need.

There's obviously something going on between the sticks which is a bit of a sh!tshow however Henderson looks to be on his way. After that, Lerma is a great and welcome addition in midfield and I presume the outlay on Franca was to mitigate fan reaction to Wilf leaving and try to fill that rather gaping hole.

I would strongly suggest we need a RB, winger and striker as you have Oddball so agree there, would throw in another CB too. I also suspect however that RB may not be a priority with Ward and Clyne so although they may be deemed below the quality we'd like to see, within our budget, we may have deprioritized resourcing for that position. Ferguson also due to be available in 2031.

We've been linked to all manner of winger and strikers so I wouldn't be surprised to see incoming(s) there next couple of days. That would represent the priority for the club, for me, on our comparatively limited budget. Wilf replacement, midfield hole plugged, a very good reaction to an unplanned GK fiasco and perhaps some additional firepower. The defence probably just enough to see us through and may see additions in January if not.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We have an excellent defensive record and with Lerma we look more solid in the middle, but outside of Eze we look very short on creativity. Olise will unlikely be fully firing until October and Franca is likely to be eased in. To my mind if we could sign just one more player it would be a winger with proven quality. Sinisterra at Leeds seems a good shout if he can stay fit.

You talk like its easy. Yeah, lets get out there and find 2 or 3 'inexpensive' gems and push on.
Why didn't the rest of us think of that?

Give over, for a Premier league club we basically have our pick over every single footballer in the world, with the exception of the big European clubs and now the Saudi clubs, our wage bill is 10 times that of 99% of clubs in world football. You've got the big clubs, saudi and then the rest of the Premier league who have first pick on every professional player in the world. If our scouting system can't manage to identify a couple of players who would strengthen our squad out of that pool of players then there's something seriously wrong.

My first reaction was to compare it to that nonsensical Cantona statement about seagulls following trawlers…..

Your grasp , or rather your lack of, of how the football world turns continues to amaze me. Keep it coming, I like a good laugh

Textor does not have a controlling interest at Palace so if he does run into trouble, his administrators may get his shares but all they can do is try and sell them which for a minority holding are not worth much. I expect H&B would hoover them up.
Unlikely he has got a hold over Franca or anyone else as that is not allowed. Franca is Palace's player now.
But let's stay positive. Overall things are looking great for us.
With the number one young keeper in the UK (according to Henderson himself anyway), we may have two really solid keepers on the books.
Our central defence is top drawer, as is our defensive midfield.
According to Lanzo (and I dont disagree) we've got one of the best players in the world in Eze. I still rate Schlupp and Hughes. Ayew appears to be on steroids this season. What has happened to him? He is faster, harder, dribbling like Pele and the best fouled record in the league by some way now Zaha has gone.
We've got two strikers who three days ago were on fire for 10 minutes.
And of course we've got one of the worlds best young wingers just sign a new 4 year contract.
When Franca gets fit who knows what he will do.
Im looking forward to what Parish has delivered so far.
My only hope is we dont go near building that new stand unless H&B are gifting it to us.
