Understood. In any case there is much to look forward to with this tournament and so that in my view is a good perspective to take. If we're to drift to valid complaints about the Qatar World Cup, face paint is low down a long list . I would not claim that my comments about the Senegalese face paint could be filed under 'Complaint'. All rather colourful ! Edited by Willo (30 Nov 2022 10.29am)

Just thought it worth mentioned of the 8 teams playing today 7 can still qualify (I think)! Should be a decent day of football, although I am rather unhappy at having to pretend to myself I am working hard by furiously attacking my laptop for a short time, then sitting back and watching two random countries play each other for a bit and maybe posting on HoL! That opportunity is limited to just twice a day now
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Whatever the opposite of mindfulness is, I guess thats me,

A mate of mine used to pre prepare emails during the normal work afternoon, then go down the pub & upon his late evening return would send them out to give the impression he was working long hours - I should say that at the time we were working in the Middle East and our reporting requirements would cover several time zones - Originally posted by Nicholas91

Generally a decent spoof, but you had to be careful not to send them out to someone who was liable to receive it, who would think, oh he is up & working, then call to discuss the contents of the email, work phone calls after an evening on the razzle is not such a good idea.

The unfortunate thing for me these days 'Microsoft Teams' DE! Whereby you can be contacted via instant message at any given point in the day. Ergo, somebody does, and you don't answer for three/four hours, the jig is up my friend! Given it sits in my toolbar, I have the hack of finding any random long boring video on YouTube, sticking it on, muted, and this stops your screen from shutting off (laptop thinks you're watching said video) and you can sit back, watch el footballio and keep half an eye on any notification that comes up!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Absolutely - modern technology is becoming more the spy in the office as it were - especially with the more widespread recently accelerated move towards WFH Originally posted by Nicholas91

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Those that do present tend to be rather pleasing on the eye, in my opinion IMHO, women tend to not properly understand football and therefore it seems ridiculous to have them talking about it. Furthermore, they often cannot concentrate for very long without thinking about handbags and make up etc so it's a bit ridiculous to have a person commentating who cannot focus for the whole match. This is further hampered when there is more than one as when together they will inevitably start nattering and forget to watch the game.
