Totally agree with this. I tried to imagine what Bellend Shearer would have said if a similar Palace "goal" had been disallowed. Impossible - he would not even have mentioned it.

Indeed . last week our '3rd goal'against City was brushed aside , VAR took at look at it . The ref wasnt even asked to look at the monitor for what its worth .

I hate it , even with it getting us off the hook yesterday I would rather just leave it to the refs

Anyway, when the freekick that led to the incident was taken three of their players looked off.

Good spot, do you want to do the VAR decisions

I thought Ayew was free, although had a loan fee the season before. Also think Ward was £400k.

The player actually involved with Mitchell looks incredibly off to me.

Haven’t seen the highlights but I watched the game yesterday. Did the clear offside as the free kick that led to the disallowed goal get showed and discussed?

I haven’t heard this mentioned by anyone!!

You're the reason I looked it up and posted the image.

The PGMOL have reviewed and found the goal should have stood.

Which of course makes it obvious it was correctly ruled out!

Offside and foul on the keeper.

I really enjoyed the dismay at the final whistle when they realised all their money couldn't even buy them a goal.

Yep, I said this at the time, when someone asked why it was disallowed. It was very clear on the stream I was watching that the player nearest the camera remained offside as the ball was kicked - the other 2 I couldn't say as it was a much tighter decision.

So it should've been ruled out.

One of my gripes with officials now is that they only seem to call offside against the person who made contact with the ball. It doesn’t seem to matter if you are stood in an offside position if you don’t go for the ball. Same against Brentford, although I would suggest worse as our player was sucked in to challenge a player that was clearly offside but it was ruled he wasn’t interfering with play, leaving the unmarked player a clear header.

I preferred Brian Cloughs definition of interfering which was, if he isn’t interfering then why is he on the pitch.

Actually, that's a rhetorical question rather than a definition

Yes, poor choice of words but I couldn’t be bothered to change it.
