More regurgitated Laurence Fox nonsense. It awful, isn't it? What looks like a watershed moment for cricket and, perhaps, all sport and society in general, and we still get these kinds of claims. It's this which lies at the root of the whole problem. I sincerely hope that those who think this way are the tiny minority I believe them to be. I don't believe most people, especially the younger among us, cricketers included, are truly racist. It's just that in some long-established cultures, racist stereotyping has been the norm for so long they just don't notice it. What is banter for some is awful for others, who up to now have just had to live with it.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

This isn't just a racist thing. Inappropriate behaviour towards anyone, especially minorities, women, LGBTQ individuals and so on is no longer going unchallenged and people feel like actually have a voice now and are increasingly less scared to speak out against their aggressor. Times change. They have changed. Deal with it. You talk so much uninformed nonsense that it's hard to take anything you say seriously. Keep your slurs to your self. You jump to a stupid conclusion and concoct unfounded straw man arguments to suit your narrow and inexperienced view of life. The basis of this whole affair is that this guy got abused by team mates. Big deal. Abuse and bullying happens to people at work, in school and just about anywhere humans interact. The only reason that this guy is getting special attention is that he is playing the race card at a time when all things woke are fashionable. Of course, politicians and the media are falling over themselves to appear on side with it for purely self-serving reasons. When every person that ever got called a nasty name gets the same hearing, I will also be on side with it. What is most ridiculous is that these guys were his mates, not some gang of racist thugs or bully boys.

Your consistent dismissal of racism as an issue is staggering. Your posts don't marry up with the situation. All you need to do is watch Rafiq's testimony to realise how horrible what went on was. All your constant posts about race do is portray a scared man losing his perceived grip of power on the world. I reckon a quarter of a million should just about sort this out.

You haven’t listened to his testimony have you? Why do keep making statements with no foundation? More importantly, why do you just accept one side of a story without question? It's almost like you don't care what the truth is as long as it fits with what you want to believe.

His story continues to be corroborated by more and more people, and others are coming out with their own similar stories.

What do you think is so significant about this case as opposed to the experience of millions of others?

Says the person who deems the details of the guys experience as 'unimportant' anyway on account of your wider view of immigration. You're the one who's already made his mind up before a word was spoken.

The reporting of his testimony appears to accept his statements as fact. Those accused have been given little wriggle room to properly counter and some have been cornered into resignation. Every word he says may be absolutely true and the rolled heads may be absolutely deserved. However, what if he suffers from some mild form of mental illness where his views are about what he perceived to have heard; or he suffers from acute sensitivity where a wish "good morning" may be received as a racial slur and attack. Natural justice has featured heavily in the news of late. There seems little present here.

It's all part of tearing down our institutions. The takeover that the Left said was a figment of Right Wing imaginations has begun in earnest. Imagine how it will be when we are a minority. Not long to wait now. The details are not important.
