Well done England but I still don't understand why in the first half we failed to cross the ball into the box. As soon as Shaw started doing that it was game over.

Anyway minor quibble next up Denmark, time to take home the bacon.

One more point

I must be getting worse. I hate to say this but I'm not convinced by this England team. When it moves forward with purpose they're good but there's far too much back-passing for me. We had a free kick at one point, even that was hit back to a defender. Is it possession at all costs?

When Shaw got close to the byline he did cross and cross effectively. But I lost count of the number of times Maguire passed to him only to get the ball back immediately. The was no use of the left channel.

I just have a nagging feeling that we're going to get found out, if not by Denmark, then certainly by Italy (or possibly Spain). I sincerely hope my "glass half empty" attitude has become acute and I'm talking out of my @rse.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Reaching a semi-final is another impressive tournament. Anything else would be great

They won't win this one though. I predict an English win 2 - 0 with little concern.

Sometimes a poster answers his own post although I would have been more measured and temperate.

Hard to knock yesterday’s performance. Very negative first half but blew them away after the break. Easy game which wouldn’t have taken much out of them. Grealish and Foden fresh to come in for the semi’s.

Ukraine are a poor side, but we stuck 4 past them which is what we should be doing. Our attacking options are frightening which is why the the first four games were so frustrating.

Momentum building with Kane now scoring, you got to expect us to roll over Denmark. The players seem well grounded.

In the modern game, it's part of game management. Shaw passed forward or sideways when he believed the opportunity was there to make progress. No point punting aimless balls into the box and giving up the initiative to the opposition. Ukraine had virtually as much possession as we did (49-51%). They were generally quite good at keeping the ball when they got it. Most teams are these days.

Both of Kane's goals came from a recognition that space was there and a sudden injection of pace and movement provided the opportunities, which were well taken.

They say the first half was cagey and dull. However, I recall 2/3 moments when we fed the ball through their defence and came close. It was so fast and sudden akin to Man City at their best. The defence were cut through and only just survived. We could have been 3-0 up at half time with a stroll for the second half.

Denmark will be harder but not much. We are a much better team than the 10 men they last scraped past.

From what I remember of the game; After we scored,
it was relatively even first half. We were happy to sit back and be patient while they had a fair amount possession. We largely held them at arms length but still rode our luck at times.
We looked solid defensively, with their main chance coming from (another) misplaced pass.
We also created a few good chances of our own.

Once we scored the 2nd straight after the break, we never looked back. Then came the mass substitutions.
A comfortable win, and one that is refreshing given that historically we rarely put these type of games to bed so convincingly. Shows that this group of players may actually be breaking the cliches levelled at England in the past.

First time ever there was 0 mins of injury time in 2nd half? Ref must have needed to get home.

Denmark will be a much harder test, though we are still overwhelming favourites. They play together as a good team unit, are very efficient in what they do and have some dangerous players to boot.
I think they will score against us, and can see it going to extra time. I hope we can win it outright, as never want to watch an England Penalty shoot out ever again!

Refs sometimes do that where there has been a battering and the losing side have shown absolutely no chance of recovering.

Put them out of their misery.

Would be nice if true, believe you me, theres been plenty of time I wanted to do that, but, knew I couldn't. What you have to remember, is ALL refs are constantly assessed & monitored for their handling & interpretation of the laws of the game.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I was wrong. We lost one and drew one.

Denmark form make impressive reading. They didn't "lose" a game at the world cup going out on penalties to Croatia.

Lost 3-0 to Slovakia in a friendly after the world cup, that could be put down of a wc hangover.

Since then the only two teams to beat them are Belgium and Finland (after Erikson's heart attack).

I was quietly confident against Germany, but Denmark are a side that could really get a result against bigger sides.

I've just read that a Scottish MP has joined in after Sottish viewers complained that the Beeb's coverage of the Euros is too English! What are these people on?

Do they expect Lineker to wear a kilt or what? Scotland were knocked out and England are playing a Semi-Final tomorrow. For once the BBC has got it right in having an England bias.

I'm with the Beeb. Forget Scotland - they were beaten. Come on England. Wembley next.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
